Subject: RE: Crucible, something really special From: GUEST,Roy of the rovers Date: 23 Feb 07 - 10:18 AM Which festival/club did you book them at, Skipy? They were excellent at Cheltenham, despite a few technical problems on the Sunday night they got the concert off to a storming start. |
Subject: RE: Crucible, something really special From: Herga Kitty Date: 22 Feb 07 - 03:56 PM They're great with and without instruments - they did a wonderful unaccompanied set at Haddenham festival in December, including the words of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer set to the harmonies of Northfields.... oh, and members have been known to post to the Cat, so I hope they see this thread. Subject: RE: Crucible, something really special From: GUEST,henry Date: 22 Feb 07 - 01:07 PM It was a real pleasure to meet them and hear them perform at last years White Horse Festival. They hosted some really well thought out workshops as well - yes, lovely people. |
Subject: RE: Crucible, something really special From: black walnut Date: 22 Feb 07 - 10:50 AM They led a really friendly song circle at the (Goderich as in Mooh) festival. Icing on the cake. And Jessica asked for the words to the song I sang so she could lead it over in the U.K. ~b.w. |
Subject: RE: Crucible, something really special From: Mooh Date: 22 Feb 07 - 10:25 AM I too really like the English pipes, they're a healthy break from the seemingly more common Scottish and Irish pipes we hear. Nice folks too, very gracious with festival volunteers, fun in the after hours sessions, and great stage presence. Take the prvious poster's advice, the cds are worthwhile purchases. Last I heard they didn't intend to tour Canada (US too?) until they had new product to promote...hope and pray for both. Peace, Mooh. |
Subject: RE: Crucible, something really special From: GUEST,Seiri Omaar Date: 22 Feb 07 - 10:10 AM I'd go out of my way to see them. They do very interesting vocal arrangements and Helena's piping (I love the sound of English border pipes) is wonderful. Go see 'em if you can, and then buy their albums to enjoy them the rest of the time... it's well worth the money. |

Subject: Crucible, something really special From: skipy Date: 21 Feb 07 - 07:24 PM Have you heard them? they are truly special, I have no connection with them other that I booked them some 6 months ago, they played as planned, got their fee and went home. I am not their agent, I have nothing to make from this. However I want to tell you that they are really something very, very special. Note perfect, timing spot on, but probably the most of all, what loverly people, if this is where folk music is going, then I am going along for the ride. Check out there site & have listen. |
