The Waterson:Carthy band will also be in Ithaca the
following night, Friday March 9. The hall has plenty
of seats - so all you central New Yorkers, don't miss
this opportunity to hear them!

Look up cornelfolksong.org for more info.

cheers!

I'm in a busy Irish band so I'll be playing around Central New York at the the time and miss them.

The bad part of being in a busy band.

He will be at The Topic in Bradford (UK) on April 5th, which will have a certain historic quality to it. According to this recent interview he gave to the Bradford Telegraph & Argus (22 Feb), The Topic was the first place he ever sang outside London, and he drove up to the gig on the back of Louis Killen's Lambretta - 200 miles in 9 hours.

This was in 1964 at the latest, according to The Topic's own records. He saw the New Year in at The Topic for several years in the 70s, but this will be his first appearance there since 1993.

Hmm, the URL for Carthy's interview seems to long for the clicky. My apologies. Try pasting in

www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/leisure/music/folkroots/folkfeatures/

and look for the article on 22 Feb 2007, 'Music is a privileged existence'

Lambrettas -- that takes me back a bit. They were so cooooooool. I remember riding off the the Brighton bash - can't remember what day it was but it was a public holiday -- riding on the back of then boyfriend's lambretta with a crowd of others and thinking - no KNOWING that we owned the world........

Can't make the Boston evening but waiting for the day he comes back to the Chocolate Church in Bath...

Lambrettas cool? No WAY!

A Vinny, a Goldie, a Rocket, a Dommie, a 650 Triumph, a Tribsa you built yourself, they were cool!

A Panther, a Squariel, they were not cool then, but I'd like one now.

Perchance Richard Bridge, were you a rocker? I am not familiar with the machine names you quote and as I was a thoroughly a-typical little Mod (short short hair and short short skirts) I can only assume that these machines you reference were of Rocker kind?

I had a Lambretta 250xl and a Vincent Black Shadow. Which one I rode depended on the company

Thanks Tom, I got the e-mail. We're only going to one & it's Waterson/Cathy that we're seeing. It's a busy weekend with the Friday night session, the the shanty session & from there, I'll be leaving eary to see W/C. Another concert on the same weekend isn't in the stars. It's been a long long time since I've been to the West's & it's a good place for a house concert but my liver can't take to much of a good thing, that's a lot of drving!

Thanks
Barry

the concert in Rochester was GREAT!!!!

anyone who has a chance to see them on this tour should get their hands on tickets asap.

I sat next to a very couple who had driven from Toronto, Canada - because this was the closest venue to them on the tour and they were able to combine trips to take advantage of the opportunity.

Again.... do not miss them, even lacking Norma, it was a wonderful concert.
