Darn it - got my timing wrong. I'll be back in Maine when Judy's in Lewes.

If you don't know her you are in for a treat - one very talented lady!

Sorry to piggy back Valmai, but could I just add that Judy will be appearing at the Music Institute Club in Guildford the night before (Friday 9th March) as part of the Guildford International Music Festival. The club doors open at 7.30 pm and music commences at 8.00 pm. Full details are available at http://themusicinstitute.org.uk where tickets can be ordered online in advance.
(Despite the Music festival banner, it is actually a normal club night)

Hopefully see some of you who can't make Lewes there?

Sorry to be missing the Saturday - if you haven't been to a Lewes Arms workshop, I can heartily recommend them!

Irene, good luck with your day. I look forward to hearing you in Lewes again soon.

Even if you miss this one, don't miss Craig Morgan Robson's ballad forum at the Lewes Arms on Sunday 11th. November. They are also doing a vocal harmony workshop on Saturday 10th. November and a performance at the Lewes Arms in the evening.

Tootle pip,

Valmai

Lewes seems to be the ballad capital of the world at present - would that there were more.
Good luck,
Jim Carroll

I'm sure Valmai could, of course.

I managed to go to the first one, last year with Craig Morgan and Robson, on a Sunday. Basically it consisted of choosing a ballad that you wanted to sing and talk about (which had not already been appropriated, of course) singing and sharing it with the rest of the group, followed by discussion, and then moving on around.A really interesting day - learned a lot about features of ballads that I hadn't really considered before, and heard some interesting ones that I hadn't come across, plus interesting variations of one's I already knew.

I was booked for the Brian Peters' one, but sadly found myself too unwell to go in the end - gather that was equally successful. I'd love to go to Judy's too - but timings don't allow, as I shall be at our club in Guildford the night before, and would have to start out at the crack of dawn the next day to get there for the start... the spirit is willing, but the flesh has to acknowledge that it's weak
:-(
