I'm sure alanabit and I are not the only fans of this fine guitarist. He is the featured guest on Paul Jones Blues show on BBC Radio 2 at 21.00 GMT on Thursday 15th March 2007. The show will be archived to listen again for one week HERE . He will be promoting his new acoustic album Corner Seat (Free Spirit FSC004). His influences range from Grant Green to Charlie Patton. The album is a return to his acoustic roots ( my favourite track is "Arthur's new boogie"). He admitted to me in a private e-mail that he was "never happy with the Stratocaster".
He's not only a great player but a nice bloke (and I'm not just saying that because he encouraged, nay insisted that I sing with the band when I hired him for my 60th birthday bash -but I may have mentioned that here in the past!)who never failed to play some Delta slide for me and electric "Albatross" for Sheila when we were in the audience.

It is good news. Very good news. Now somebody should persuade him to write and record some more of his brilliant songs. Thanks for spreading the word Roger.

He's also got a DVD out available from Redlick Records of Porthmadog etc on the Catfish label (10043) "Jazzin' the blues (DVD & 2 CDs). Redlick say :"Sharpen you improvisational skills with renowned blues guitarist Bill Boazman aka Sonny Black".

I presume it is the same guy that wrote The Worm Forgives The Plough, which is an excellent song on Paul Downes' second solo album, Life Goes On. I've known that song for 25 years, but never come across any of Bill Boazman's other work.

It's a lovely song, also recorded by Johnny Coppin. Wizz Jones and I think Bill Caddick did "Roll on River", which is another gem. Not many people, who heard him sing "Bless These Children" live forgot it either. He's a lovely bloke too.
