J D Souther - sometimes referred to as an honorary member of "The Eagles" is touring the UK in a couple of months. I've been a fan of J D's singing and songwriting since the early 70s. Has anyone out there ever seen him perform?

Yeah, saw him in Dallas several years ago when his hit, "When You're Only Lonely" was out and he was just great. He was touring with a band made up of some of the fine musicians who have toured with James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Dan Fogelberg, etc.; folks like Waddie Watchell, Michael Botts and Lee Sklar to name a few. I remember he did a short show, but covered every song on the album that contained the hit. He's one of my long time favorites, along with most of those old "Southern California Mafia" members - Taylor, Eagles, Ronstadt, Poco, Chris Hillman - all those guys have long been my heros. In fact, I woke up this morning and read in the paper that
Chris Hillman and Herb Pederson were doing a show in Dallas last night and I had a free Friday night and didn't know they were in town.
I'm used to it though - I play for a living and usually don't get to see anyone anyway unless I'm doing a festival. Go see J.D. - cheers.

Any ideas where he's playing? I'd love to see him in concert.

I saw J D in Nashville in August 2006 and December 2005. His voice is still as good as it was 30 years ago, but when I saw him last year, he had shaved his beard and moustache off. My advice is go and see him, he is still the most talented person out there and the new songs he has written are great.
