20 Apr 07 - 06:46 AM (#2030856) Subject: St. George's Day in Beverley From: GUEST,Richard Wastling To celebrate St. George's Day on Monday 23rd April, 'NOT The White Horse Folk Club', at the Foresters Arms, Beckside, Beverley will feature perfomances by the Green Ginger Morris and the Green Ginger Garland Dancers outside of the pub starting around 8.00pm and followed by a lusty singarouind inside, entrance being FREE, although a collection will be taken for the dance teams. Hope to see you all there. Is it just me, or isn't it about time we had this day as a national holiday? Discuss! Oh, and don't forget we've got the great American virtuoso old-timey fiddle, banjo, guitar player and singer, Bruce Molsky on the following Monday (30th) - a rare treat! 23 Apr 07 - 05:47 AM (#2033240) Subject: RE: St. George's Day in Beverley From: Liz the Squeak We should be able to celebrate St Georges' day and there have been discussions here before about this, but just add up how many Bank holidays there are in April/May, especially when Easter is late. To put another statutory day off there would just be senseless. You'd have a better chance of getting a day off if we had St Michael as our patron - Sept 29th. LTS |

Cry God for Elizabeth, England, and Saint George !! |
