I've just heard a news report saying there have been earth tremors in Kent (UK). Have any of you felt the Earth move down there?

Yes tremors in the Ashford area of Kent - only classed as moderate - which is a daily event in California according to BBC.

Earth tremors are really quite common in Uk as well but nowhere near as bad as most places in the world. We had one here in Cornwall a few years ago which made things fall off the shelves and pictures came off the walls. No damage though. When I heard of the Kent tremor my immediate reaction was that one of the seams in the Kent coalfields had caved in causing tremors. Worth a thought.

Apparently the epicentre was offshore in the English Channel. I felt nothing here in North Kent (near the Isle of Grain).

I don't know about coal seams - it's right where the channel tunnel is!

Could be delayed reaction to man's meddling!

Is she still about?

She certainly used to make the earth move for me.

Well, Herself and I came back from a week in Kent a week ago but disclaim all responsiblity- I didn't do any singing so reports that the earthquake was caused by the stampeding sheep trying to get to the tunnel are untrue!
