Ch: Ain't you feeling sorry, Goodbye, goodbye Ain't you feeling sorry, Goodbye, Liza Jane. Liza Jane is dead and gone, goodbye.. But in my heart she still lives on... I added a verse for the middle, but it ain't the way I first heard it, and since it may not be the song you want I'll not add it here. That's the way I learned it. |

The lyrics, with discussion, also here at the Bluegrass messengers site: Charleston Town The Bluegrass Messengers mention that the song may have been suggested by Sumter during the siege, but although the lyrics refer to the Civil War, the particular lyrics sung by the New Christy Minstrels seem to be much later than the event. Charlottetown is applied to the same song. Where Scarlet Town came in, I don't know. |

I would ask for the name of a color and make up a verse about it. It was a great hit with school kids who would always try to stump me.
