Some of whom sank without trace, some are still around, and a few have gone to their maker. John Pearse, Mike Absolom, Don Partridge, Terry Gould, Terry Masterson, Jack King, Lisa Turner[d], The Coal Creeks, Mike Ritman, Terry Mundy, Steve Benbow [d], Alan Young, The Beggermen, Roger Evans [d], Ron Geesin, Dennis O'Brien, Cliff Aungier [d]. On 3ed January 1968 I paid Noel Murphy 8 Guineas for an evening at the club, 14th Feb 1968 Hedy West £20, and 28th Feb Derek Brimstone £10. For the Times they are a Changing ♫♪ That's interesting. In 1967, I was one of the residents at the Surbiton club, and Derek Sarjeant started taking me round on some of his gigs. I would get up and do a couple of songs as part of Derek's set. I did this at the Hole in the Wall in Chichester, and in the interval they asked if they could book me in my own right. "How much do you charge?" they said. "How much do I charge?" I asked Derek. "How much do you earn a week in your job?" he replied. "Eight quid", says I. "Well, that's what you charge for a gig then" he retorted. So first ever paid gig, and I got a week's wage. That was the formula back then. Translate that to today's values, and you'll see that artists' fees have not really kept pace. |

I first went to a Melanie Concert in 2008 at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall, Brilliant Concert! Next time I went to a Melanie Covert was a year later at Manchester, Yet! another Brilliant Concert, Her Son, Beau took a photo of Me with my Arm around Melanie! Some of her songs, were, Ruby Tuesday; Peace Will Come; Look What They've Done to My Song Ma, just to mention a few!
