22 May 07 - 12:40 PM (#2058440) Subject: BS: Breast Cancer - another way to help! From: Liz the Squeak In a bid to raise money and awareness for my Chorus and Breast Cancer, many members of the choir are walking along the banks of the Thames and crossing 8 of London's landmark bridges, on Sunday, June 10th. If anyone would like to come and walk with me, cheer me on, throw money in a bucket, bring me a beer, sing strange music at certain points and support a great cause, we'd be so happy to see you. Sponsorship is welcomed, either per bridge (8), per mile (about 6) or as one friend suggested, per tit (as you know, I have 3 sorts of tit). If you'd like to contribute, you can PM me and I'll send you an address to send the cheques or if I'm likely to see you in person soon, will add your name to my sponsorship form. Details of the walk and route can be found hopefully here, so if you'd like to join us, come along! Thanks. LTS |

From: Liz the Squeak My friend Alan the Bus driver loves working nights when the London leg of the Moonwalk is on... he says it's incredible to see all these people, female AND male, wearing bras outside their clothes and walking along Tower Bridge! We're not going to be quite as flambouyant, but we're still going to be doing our bit! LTS |

From: Liz the Squeak Went to a birthday barbeque yesterday - and judging from the donations I got there, I may have just hit £150! Only 4 hours left before the start - if you're in London and at a loose end at 2, come and join us at Tower Hill, wear something pink! I shall be wearing a pink hat with my Mudcat badge on the back of it so come and say hello and drop a donation into the bucket! Thanks. LTS |

10 Jun 07 - 05:24 PM (#2073138) Subject: RE: BS: Breast Cancer - another way to help! From: Liz the Squeak Well... It was hot and sticky, and very sweaty! We met at Tower Hill, despite hardly any tube trains - leaving a little behind schedule at 2.15. Our first bridge, Tower Bridge, was easy enough with no difficulties other than avoiding tourists. The second, London Bridge was marked with a spirited rendition of 'London Bridge is falling down' and a detour around a building site on the North bank. We had a break at Southwark for an icecream and then on to the Millennium or 'Wobbly' bridge. Blackfriars bridge was almost deserted but the South bank was crowded - we spotted a huge public artwork from Waterloo bridge - Antony Gormley has "installations" dotted around the horizon and area, which added interest. By Hungerford Bridge we were starting to feel the distance but we made a valiant effort and crossed Westminster Bridge at exactly 4.45pm, 15 minutes ahead of schedule! Our total pledges to date bring us a grand total so far of £2,300; over twice our original target and a fantastic effort by everyone! Thank you all! Pictures here, in reverse order! LTS |

Thanks, everyone! LTS |

My face has faded from bright pink to pinky/brown today and my legs which were covered, have gone pink instead! Thank you all so much, I'm only a few pounds off £200 and feel great! LTS |

They cost more than the regular stamps, but part of the extra cost is dedicated to breast cancer research. I've been buying them ever since. |
12 Jun 07 - 08:21 AM (#2074631) Subject: RE: BS: Breast Cancer - another way to help! From: sian, west wales I've just had an email to say that the Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. I think we've had this before, but this is an opportune moment for a reminder, perhaps. The click-through thingy is at this site . sian |
