16 Jun 07 - 07:50 AM (#2078555) Subject: RE: Moseley Festival 2007 From: Lizzie Cornish I'm sure they'll find a solution eventually Nutty.... Mind you, Beautiful Days has loads of camping, but this year they've stopped doing Day Tickets, so we can't afford to go and we only live about 15 minutes away. How frustrating is that! I hope they'll reconsider that daft idea... |

Yep, the no camping thing is a negative point, hope they work something out for next year. It is a lovely festival with a great atmosphere. As with last year I have not previously come across a lot of the acts, but festival website has loads of links and further investigation makes me feel that Mosseley is again a weekend to look forward to ! |

Most festival organisers in the area would give their eye teeth for a tenth of that funding. NOTE: the above is the Moseley FOLK Festival in September- I don't know why the title was changed to Moseley Festival. The actual, original, home-grown Moseley Festival starts this Friday and runs for a week. Moseley's annual festival, organised by and for people who live, work and visit the lovely, lively suburb of Moseley, Birmingham. Could a Mudelf change the title back to what it originally was. |

Most festival organisers in the area would give their eye teeth for a tenth of that funding. Without wishing to drift the thread - that does seem the way festivals in general are going and as the parent of a festival organiser who does it full-time, I know her biggest skill is accessing the various sorts of funding. I reckon we are a long way behind our European neighbours in this respect. Even as a morris dancer I have been flown to festivals (twice) fed and watered like a king (no more lobster for me) and when I asked the organisers where the money came from the answer was invariably some obscure EC project. I am not knocking it - I believe we spend far too much on what is sometimes referred to as "high art" and not enough on traditional culture and it is good to see a festival getting cash like that one apparently has done. |

19 Jun 07 - 04:29 PM (#2081403) Subject: RE: Moseley Festival 2007 From: countrylife The thing with Moseley Park, where The Festival is held, is that it's a private park, it costs about thirty quid a year for a private key that allows you access at anytime...this is probably a factor in the no camping policy Moseley Park |
