BS: Waiting for the wind

Just waiting for the 'weather'. Don't know if I should go to work or not. Emergency services advises to stay off the road and Woolloomooloo is a notorious area because its reclaimed land, at the bottom of everything, right next to the sea, and all the main runoff goes into the bay right here. And my tree is dodgy. The whole community is waiting. We don't know if our houses will have slid into the sea by the end of the day. We don't know if we should believe the Bureau or not - they are pretty good these days. At one time they used to say things like "it's a fine and sunny day" even though it was pouring with rain and had for the last week. Nowadays it seems to be different. This morning it was incredibly quiet - no rain, no wind. Now the rain is building up but still, no wind. We've been advised that the winds are coming and they are killers. But still, so quiet. Rain has completely stopped now. I thought the wind had come for a minute, but it was my washing machine. I had forgotten that I'd put some washing on. Decisions. Decisions. Think I ain't gonna go to work today! I'll let you know if the 'weather' comes - or not, although I'm sure you will hear about it. The sky is yellowish-purple and - so quiet. No rain now, and absolutely no wind. Even the weather is waiting.

So you haven't got my summer down there in Aus? Wonder where it got to.

We have had 3 weeks of intermittent fog, with north or northeasterly winds, when it didn't rain. It ain't looking too good for tourist boat-trips into the North Sea from a north-facing river mouth. On the other hand April was great.

Think I will wait with you, Hilda, can I pass my wind ration on to you if it disagrees with me?

Yikes..get away from the lowland if you have a safe place to go and there is time and gas to get there....if the sea wants a house it will take it and you with it if you are there...mg

Just remember the tale of the captain who tossed a shilling into the sea to pay for a breeze and was immediately dismasted.
His response: Had I known wind was so cheap around here, I would have only offered a farthing.

Hope you stay safe down there, m'dear.

Oh well...........it might as well be beans. Nothing much happened - oh, the side of the hill fell down and we are just waiting for the block of flats to follow.........but that's more sport than disaster. There is a song in there somewhere isn't there. About hope and disappointment, disaster - - - - - - - - and not?

An adrenalin crash, eh? Better that than having your worst fears confirmed. Glad you're safe.
