Come along if you can to the opening of Henley Folk Club at 8.00pm on 24 July 2007 at the Horse and Groom, New Street, Henley on Thames. This will be a monthly club on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

It will be a great evening with Bill McKinnon, Hilary Ward, George Wilson, Terry Silver and hopefully George Papavgeris.

There will be dancers too!! - OBJ, White Thorn, Mabel Gubbins and Rockhopper.

Get there early for a free seat and the landlord's barbecue(at a small charge).

See you there!

Roger

Thanks Hilary,
Something like that!
I'm here with the computer and he's in Henley without, so I follow instructions ie "You'd better start another thread with all the details on and include the dancers".

Looking forward to hearing your lovely voice again.

Love
Annie xx

Thanks for your kind words Annie will be lovely to see you both again!

My tendency towards tidiness always makes me a bit concerned when one event gets several threads started. Members tend to 'trace' the threads that they're interested in and keeping to one thread helps for searching purposes and also helps to prevent the Mudcat getting clogged up!

Seriously - Anyone know what the roads will be like tomorrow night (floodwise) and how the Thames is by Henley? There are a lot of places in the UK that don't get flooded very often, but this is exceptional flooding and I understand that the Thames will be surging in a few days! Obviously a new club wouldn't want it to affect what promises to be a wonderful evening, but those travelling any distance will need to be very careful regarding their chosen route.

I've seen it lapping at the doors of the Red Lion, covering the road beside the river upstream of the bridge, and heading towards Brakspear's Brewery.

At the moment the river is over the landing stages but not over the road. Will keep you posted.

Just an amendment to the club's next dates:-

Because of festivals and bank holidays etc, the club will meet this month on 21st August at 8.00pm.

Thereafter, it will revert to the fourth Tuesday of the month ie
25 September, 23 October, 27 November and December to be advised.

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Regards,

Roger
