Folk Music in Dorset

I will be in Dorset (based in Tolpuddle) from Saturday 28th July to Friday 3rd August. Any singarounds/sessions in central Dorset? I'm not much of a sitting-listening-to-concert-type-venues sort of person, I prefer to be more hands-on/joining-in.

Try www.broadsideman.co.uk (my computer won't make the link at the moment, for some reason).

Wimborne (at the British Legion) on Thursday might be your best bet.

There are a couple of excellent websites that can help - type 'Tony and Peter's Folk Diary' or 'Sadfolk' into Google and you'll find out what's on in the area (and a bit beyond) every day. Kitty's right about Wimborne on the Thursday, and a bonus is that the beer's remarkably cheap!

PS - there's a mini festival, 'Roger's Rant', in Milborne St Andrew the weekend you arrive!

Guest, Terry, you aren't by any chance the same Terry mcDonald who played in a group called (I think) the Biddles, about 35 years back. Apologies if you are very young and wouldn't have been around then!

Yup, Sarah, that's me, and it was 41 years ago! Good to hear from you.

Hmm! I thought I had already posted a thankyou but it seems to have disappeared into cyberspace!

So. Thanks again everyone. It looks like Thursday night is the one for me.
