09 Aug 07 - 05:04 PM (#2122720) Subject: RE: Sweeney's Men From: Geoff Wallis By coincidence I happened to be interviewing Andy two days after the Rostrevor event and he reckoned that the gig went down a storm even though they'd barely rehearsed and Paul had to step in at short notice. He was most struck by the number of people singing along to 'Old Maid in the Garret'(which might say something about the average age of the audience!). Apparently the gig was filmed by Jim Sheridan and some or all of it (not sure about that) was shown on BBC Northern Ireland the following night and Johnny Moynihan managed to grab a copy. The BBC's site doesn't refer to the programme and sadly Colm Sands's Saturday night show on Radio Ulster doesn't have Sweeney's Men listed among the concert broadcasts from Rostrevor - http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/radioulster/folk_club/ Sorry I can't be more help, Geoff |

For those who dobn't know, the legendary(and justifiably so!) Johnny Moynihan is currently in an oldtimey-type group called Moonshine. Check'em out!! |
