Alan has just had a knee replacement. All is well; he'll be at Fylde but with a mix of crutches and buggy.

Had both mine replaced last October, Alan, you won't look back.
I'm at the gymnasium and on the cycle machine for ten miles five days out of each week since my operation.

At least Fleetwood is on the level. No Whitbyesque hills to negotiate.

I had a cruciate ligament done a few years back. It takes time, getting back full use, but it comes. I can't dance mind you, but then I never could...

Well I am pleased to say,That I have had no replacement parts yet.
My mother predicted that if I carried on the way I did, I would be dead before I was thirty,.

Alan was at Sidmouth this year MBSLynne, and we were talking about his up coming 'new knee'. In fact we were having a bit of a giggle regarding how he was going to get around Fleetwood - probably on an electric scooter type thing with his leg pointed straight out.
He did say he wouldn't be able to do his 2 weeks of pre-festival tours around town, but I'm sure that people have stepped into the breech for him.
In the meantime all my best wishes to you Alan, and look forward as always to the fine festival that is Fylde.

In days gone by, when his legs were much younger
Alan would cycle the festival round
With a new knee replaced and WD40
A new lease of life "Young" Alan has found

It's around and around and around now goes Alan
No creaking and groaning his new knee's just fine
When his other knees done things will be so much better
No more going in Circles he'll walk a straight line

But just for the moment some transport is needed
A motorised wheelchair to get round the town
His concertina at all times upon his lap sitting
To blow up the tyres, in case they go down

Chorus

So Best wishes Alan we'll see you at Fylde
We might take the proverbial but know how you feel
and please "young" Sir get you knees back in order
You'll need them for when Her Majesty says "Kneel"

Chorus

more verses to be heard at Fylde if we're still booked :0)

after a run through this evening we ended up with a few changes - so here you are... for those going to Fylde please learn the chorus and if we get a "Request" we'll do it at The Euston (we might even if we don't) I'm sure Stan "the Man" and Ron Baxter will have a song or two up their sleeves for Alan..

Just to pass on Alan's regards - He came along to The Marsh Mill Concert today (we were filling in for him and the band) Looking quite chirpy and managing on a couple of sticks, He'll see you all at Fylde.

To anyone who came along to see Alan at the Mill and was faced with us two Old Fogies and a Drummer (Eric from Loose Chippings) sorry! but glad you all stayed and appeared to have a good time :0) and thanks for the donations to our A.R.C. (Arthritis Research Campaign) collection.

For those who have asked about Bill (Hunt) our bass Player and third member of the duo.. He's keeping a smile on his face (ably assisted by pints of real ale) and awaiting any day now to be admitted for surgery, so Jerry (RatCatchers) will be deputising at Fylde for him - we might even coax Eric along as well!

A plethora of invalids at Fylde this year!! Looks like it might be a dry Fylde so me tin leg's gonna be OK!

Perhaps he could donate the old knee to the Upton festival cat as it is need of a new leg!

See the cat at the Upton Feel Good Festival in Upton Upon Severn on the third weekend of September.
