Is she any relation to Pat Arrowsith - the peace protester?

WLD- No, she got her surname from me and as far as I know I am not related to Pat. It would be cool though!

I see on the Fylde thread that you are going to be there, Wendy is on at Penny Black's "do" on Friday night. Why not pop in and say hello!

yeh sounds good. I have a campercan which I dare not drive - as I am of a nervous disposition. I may just get a travel lodge, but that would restrict my drinking.

Pete is a good man.

WLD, like you, Wendy has visited Gainsborough Folk Club so I can tell you she is great - Paul ain't half bad too even though he plays banjo..... (sorry mate, couldn't resist).

So, WLD, get to see her.

Looking forward to the Friday Night "Do" at Fylde (although I may not be there all the time due to another performance with The IGBAND during the evening)

Paul - will Wendy have any "Official Pre-release" copies with her? I'm sure the audience would be interested.

Looking forward also to meeting you and the "Young-uns" - and hearing you all - always happy to meet a fellow Banjo Player! and member of "The society"

Hope to see fellow Mudcatters and MySpace friends there also.

Pete,

It's touch & Go if we'll have the albums for Fylde, we haven't got them back from the reproduction people yet. If we have got them before the 31st we will bring some.

Thanks

Paul

let's keep our fingers crossed - otherwise you'll have o bring some order forms :0)

We're waiting for 300 copies of "Properganda Magazine" which have gone astray - should be another batch on the way but the Bank Holiday will slow them down..

see you soon

Hey Deidre,

Just re-read the thread and saw your comments. Being ain't half bad is much better than most folks round here say about banjo players....so thanks!

Pete, order forms, do you think so?

Paul - I remember at Fylde about 8years ago we had the luxury of a friend who not only carried our gear around (and me at one point in the festival) but also took it upon himself to sell our Cd's whilst we "Entertained" - we walked off stage and he proudly announced to us that he had sold several Cd's and had taken orders for several more Cd's - unfortunately they were for Cd's of songs we hadn't recorded!!

We spent a month in the Studio recording the songs and then putting together compilations for the requested Cd's, not only did we complete his orders but had enough songs recorded to release a new CD! - Nothing ventured nothing gained!

Wouldn't hurt to have a few order forms, must be better than refusing a sale :0)

I've just been chastised by the lady herself. The album is not called "Now Then" but "Now Then?" as in the traditional Yorkshire greeting (around these parts anyway)!

Sorry

I've actually just uploaded a new track to Wendy's MySpace Jim McLean's beautiful "Smile in Your Sleep". I hope you all think Wendy does it justice. Link below.

Sorry we won't be able to get to the release. I'd have loved to be there. It's wonderful to think Wendy will dedicate The Voyager to Col on Saturday. We all three thought it a worthy winner at Saltburn.

Hope you get lots of sales and gigs from the album.

Deirdre,

Thanks for that, we will have a few with us at Ingleton I have no doubt. I assume you'll be doing the same as us on Saturday night, Duncan McF...and on Sunday afternoon: Young 'uns, Chris Milner and Wendy (+others) at The Falls cafe?

Jane,

Launch gig went really well, I think there will be a review posted soon, as I was playing, I'm not really the one to comment! All I will say is that I had a really good time and we sold plenty of CDs....oh and Brother Crow (check them out on MySpace if you haven't heard them) were great as support and Joolz Cavell and Liam Haicead were pretty fine too.

We have some great photos of the gig and the kids folk workshop that Wendy and Joolz ran on Saturday afternoon. I'll post them somewhere and let you know where. The whole thing is on video as well and assuming this has come out OK I dare say that some of it will appear on You Tube and MySpace.

See a cool pic of him on his MySpace site.

gig went really well - thank you for asking,

I forgot to say, Wendy's launch gig was very well attended by lots of our folky friends and a lot of non folky members of our local community.

Thanks to everyone for making the effort to attend and to everyone involved in making it happen.

Glynn, bringing the sledge hammer on stage to tune my banjo was a little extreme!

A precision instrument like the banjo needs a precision tuner!

But seriously, the launch gig was damn fine entertainment! Wendy did 2 sets which included her own compositions like the Visitor, which has already become a classic around North Yorkshire folk clubs, as well as traditional pieces such as She moved through the fair and Fish gutting lassie. Wendy has a magnificent voice and deserves all the recognition that comes her way. The support acts were excellent, not only did they do an amazing job of presenting there own compositions but provided excellent backing vocals and accompaniment on several numbers. Hats off to Brother Crow, Joolz Cavell, Liam Haicead and the banjo player...what was his name?....Oh yes, Paul Arrowsmith.
Based on what I heard Wendy's CD "Now Then" should be flying off the shelves.
Good luck to all the performers and hope to see you again at the new hot spot for folk music in north yorkshire.....Kirkby Fleetham Folk club.
Glyn

Just a quick update that the album is now available from CD Baby, which will make it slightly cheaper for our friends in the States (given the relative strength of the pound!). You can hear tracks at Wendy Arrowsmith

The album is selling well with good reviews...it is all very exciting!

Genevieve Tudor has played a couple of tracks over the last 2 weeks on her Sunday Folk Show from BBC Radio Shropshire ....we think she is great and her show fantastic!!! Click on the listen again button at Sunday Folk. Next week Mike Harding (we wish)?????

Lastly, don't forget Wendy is the main guest at the Kirkby Fleetham Folk Club opening night party on Saturday 24th November.

Cheers

Paul
