If I wasn't playing a gig myself, I would have been there.

On another thread people were asking about the 'Wistman's Wood' CD. It's very good. I got it from the smelly merchandise tent at Sidmouth. I didn't know it hadn't been released yet. Presumably you can get it at gigs?

I thought it HAD been released. Isn't it Jackie's next solo CD that people were talking about?

Smelly merchandise? That's novel.

It was mostly cheeses. And socks. I'm surprised Chris managed to find a CD amongst all the cheeses and socks.

"Isn't it Jackie's next solo CD that people were talking about?"

apparently the new 'Wistman's Wood' CD seems to being classed as a Jackie Oates "solo" album, least it was in a now closed thread...lord knows why....

Now Be Thankful

Extract from what I said on the previous thread:

There is, in the meantime, [i.e. in the intervening period before her 2nd solo album is released] the seven-track Wistman's Wood EP that she recorded with Steve Turner and Andy Clarke.

This is because, fabulously talented though she is, Jackie is unable to play viola, accordian and guitar simultaneously and thus create a solo album. It is not a solo album because Wistman's Wood is a trio.

I've had the CD since last April and believe everybody should have one.

I did understand that, Diane. I've got Jackie's solo album and 'Wistman's Wood' and I can tell the difference. My point was that I got WW at Sidmouth so therefore people who can't wait for the new JO CD should be able to get hold of it.

Wasn't talking to you Chris 'chairs' Murray but to somebody called 'countrylife/nowbethankful' (a somewhat scary combination) who had somehow got the idea from somewhere that Wistman's Wood was . . . a . . . solo . . . rapidy losing the will to live . . .

A chronological discography (not guaranteed to be complete but I think it is):

Guest musician on Jim Moray's Sweet England (Track 6)
2 tracks on Laurel Swift's Beam
A quarter of the Winterset on Cruel Sister
Solo CD Jackie Oates
One third of Wistman's Wood EP

Wistman's Wood is the latest Jackie Oates CD.

well not exactly, Wistman's Wood is an aggragate of three persons of which Jackie Oates is one

Sorry, forgot about Barry Lister and Reg Meuross.
Show of Hands? Never heard of them.
Thought there might be something with Ed Rennie but can't find anything available.
Leige & Leaf Whatever is that? A remake of Liege & Lief for dyslexics?
