Have you heard Rodrego y Gabriela?

Rodrego y Gabriela are two Mexicans who are heavily influenced by heavy metal rock but they play acoustic guitars in their own style. There are elements of Spanish music in their playing, but what they do doesn't fit into any one category. You can see some of their performances on you tube. I am SO impressed by Gabriela's rhythm guitar. I want to learn that! There are some "guitar tips" clips on you tube too. I think they are hot!

You can buy an "enhanced" version of their cd that contains a dvd rhythm guitar tuition section . Gabriela demonstrates some driving rhythms and then says " practice like crazy"!

Rodrigo is an excellent and dynamic lead guitarist, but he's not unique. I know several guitarists who could handle his leads if they felt inclined toward his style.

Gabriela, on the other hand, is something else. I've never even seen anyone play guitar like her. The term "rhythm guitar" as it's usually understood is totally inadequate to describe her function.

They were the first act on the Sunday at the 2006 CFF. They created a sensation. Within a few minutes, everyone abandoned their Observers and was dancing.

Yep, saw them at the Junction in Cambridge. Simply awesome!

It says something about how good they are that they're the first instrumental group to have a #1 album in the Irish charts. :-)

They were at Wychwood Festival the year before last.
