Joe Kerins Memorial

This is just a bit of an advance notice that a charity get together is being planned for the late Joe Kerins.

The details are fairly tentative at present, but I can confirm that the event will take place at the Irish World Heritage Centre, 10 Queens Road, Cheetham Hill, Manchester, on Saturday February 16th, 2008. There will be a singaround/music session in the afternoon, with a ceilidh and song spots in the evening. There will also be a £10-00 admission charge, and the price will include an evening meal/buffet.

All proceeds will be donated to The British Heart Foundation. As the Heritage Centre are very kindly waiving the hire fee, we should be able to raise a tidy sum.

I'll be posting more information nearer the date. In the meantime, Joe was a marvellous bloke and a bloody good friend to me and an awful lot of other people. And he was a magnificent singer. This is an ideal opportunity to celebrate the man, to raise some money for a good cause and to have a reet good do, as they say in Manchester.

If you can get to it, you'll be more than welcome.

Hi Fred,

I didn't know Joe Kerins but Manchester is only about an hour away and, as it's for such a good cause, I will try to come and bring a few friends if possible.

When we're getting nearer the time would you refresh this thread, please, as a reminder? I will put it in my diary but do tend to forget to check the wretched thing!

Also, can you give the post code of the Heritage Centre (if you have it) so people can get a Multimap or whatever to make it easier to find?

Postcode M8 8UF provides a Multimap link.

"Scowie" and Geoff Miller are I think organising support from the "Limbrick" contingent.

Sue vG and I will certainly be there.

Bob

Hi Folks,

Apologies for not including the postcode (M8 8UF as a couple of people have pointed out), but fear not. I'll be posting a reminder nearer the date. And I'll make sure all relevant details are included.

Mike. I'm hoping to get across to the next Limbrick session. I can't remember whether Scowie said you'll be at that one. If you are, I'll be gald to meet you.

I should also have added that it will be a tickets in advance do. Arrangements for selling the tickets haven't been decided yet. But again, there will be plenty of advance notice.
