Save Brampton Festival

Subject: Save Brampton Festival
From: GUEST, Tom Bliss

Carlisle Council is talking about withdrawing so much finding from
Brampton Live Festival that it will no longer be able to function. Time
is short. Please sign the petition

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Tom. They must be mad to do this and ruin a fine festival which contributes so much to the local economy.

I've signed.

Petition signed.

As John Tams has rightly put it in the comments section on the petition:

"We should be about the business of increasing not decreasing amenities and expressions that bring people together."

I have sympathies with Brampton. I'm on the committee of Tredegar House International Festival in Newport, Gwent - Newport Council and Capital Region Tourism have cut our grants by £2,000. As if the committee didn't have enough to do, our valuable time is taken selling raffle tickets to make up the loss. I'll sign!

Hiya Chas...I'm in

I hope Maddy Prior is in there somewhere , she only (as we say) lives "round the corner" - she would surely lend some "muscle" with her musical profile and personality, at least I hope so .

Signature added. We were at the very first festival and have watched it grow; it's always been a great occasion, superbly organised and stewarded. I know for a fact it brings business to the area - my mum-in-law's B&B just up the hill always has festival guests or visitors booked in, and God knows I've put some money behind the bar. Spread the word, folks.

Why don't you have some fund raiser singaround/sessions in one of the pubs. A bit like Alcester are doing on Feb 23rd 24th to help save their festival which is on in July sometime?
