Cindy Kallet and Grey Larsen CD: Cross the Water

Just got an email from Grey Larsen's list regarding his new
CD with Cindy Kallett.

A remarkable collaboration.

You can find it here

They've certainly got the music right. But the other thing
they've got right is their distribution method. You can get
the whole CD for $15.00 plus shipping. Or you can buy individual
copies of each of the thirteen tracks for a dollar each on the
web site. Or, you can listen to all of the tracks in their entirety,
for free, streamed from the site.

This 'bread upon the waters' approach seems to be an improvement
over even what most CD Baby artists are doing...if more folk artists
would use it, folk music might be a lot more competitive in vying
for being heard over the 'pop' music the distributors would foist
on us and our kids.

It seems to be powered by the web site service that they (and
Cindy) use for the web site.

Besides which it is a gorgeous album: instruments, lyrics, vocals; the whole shebang. Songs are thoughtful, well-crafted, delving deep into thoughts, poetry, and rich feelings, laced together by humor and obvious regard for one another. You need it. Everyone on your gift list needs it. I have it!

Disclaimer: I am now, and expect to always be, friends with the responsible parties. I still think it's a gorgeous album. So there.

So...after postponing it for months, I tossed a bunch of CDs on the player and sat down to do my income taxes. Just as I was furiously grumbling at how the govenment could consider taking 11% of my net income in taxes, on comes Cindy and Grey's Cross the Water CD, Black Mountain Rag.

I defy anyone to remain grumpy with all that pure joy surrounding them. Even got me wondering about how I not only live but live well and share my pittance.

This is music for the soul. If you don't have it, get it.

It is a wonderful cd, but what do you expect? They also each have wonderful solo stuff out there. I had the great fortune to have them playing a house concert in my attic on my Birthday. What the heck am I going to do next year to top that??

Ah, the ultimate in impulse buying! You see mention of an interesting album in a thread, so you click and it's yours!
It is a lovely album indeed. Sandy Paton recommended Cindy Kallet to me years ago, and I've always liked her singing.
