05 May 99 - 06:05 PM (#75883) Subject: Pete Seeger, new album! From: Rick Fielding I just received my radio copy of "Pete Seeger, Headlines and Footnotes". "A collection of Topical Songs" from Smithsonian Folkways. Oh lordy, is this wonderful music! The tunes come from his recordings in the mid fifties to almost current times. The sound quality is excellent (and remember these were on Folkways records!) and they've taken the best versions that Pete did. His guitar work on "Bells of Rhymney" is just explosive, and the banjo is original and really well played throughout. I love it, and it reminds me of why I got into this silly business in the first place. |
