24 Dec 07 - 03:52 PM (#2222052) Subject: BS: Have a lovely Christmas & Happy New Year From: Helen It looks like I'm the first Aussie to wish you all a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. It's 7.48 am on Christmas Day in east coast Oz and it looks like it will be a cool, overcast day and not a sweltering hot day like we normally get. I'm about to start getting food ready to take to the family Christmas lunch, but I just wanted to thank my Secret Santa, dulcimer42, for her lovely pressies, and wish everyone at Mudcat all the best for Christmas & the New Year. 25 Dec 07 - 12:28 AM (#2222228) Subject: RE: BS: Have a lovely Christmas & Happy New Year From: katlaughing It is almost time for bed, here. I dropped off my grandson, Morgan, at home about 845p after taking him to a candlelight ceremony at the local Unity Church. He did pretty good for his first time - got a little bored, tired and hungry, but he lit his candle and held it mostly upright, fairly well. I only had to grab it once when he'd slid the paper wax catcher all the way to the flame, by accident. But, he learned all about his Light Within and how to "let it shine"...something he does naturally, like most kids. Now he is tucked in at home, ready for Santa. There is a full moon flirting through the clouds, it is crisp and cold. Should be a nice day, tomorrow. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Everyone! luvyakat |
25 Dec 07 - 12:29 AM (#2222229) Subject: RE: BS: Have a lovely Christmas & Happy New Year From: Joe Offer Christmas Eve is our night for a Polish Christmas. We had pickled herring on rye bread, mushroom and rice soup, and Polska kielbasa sausage. Oh, and I topped it off with a couple of bottles of Trader Joe's Winter Ale - it's a double bock this year, and it goes great with herring. I printed up a songbook of Polish Carols (PDF file), and now my wife and her 93-year-old mother are singing away in Polish. We'll all head off to Midnight Mass pretty soon. I hope the music goes well. Gee, I'm glad I married into a Polish family. My wife's name is Slowick, which means nightingale. It's so lovely to hear her sing with her mother, although neither of them can carry a tune. My sons come for dinner tomorrow, and we'll do it all over again. Merry Christmas, everybody!!! -Joe Offer- |
