Congratulations, Sean!

There are a few more verses in RUS that aren't in the DT:

For seven years, I've been a rover...

But I'll return to be your lover...

You know, I've always loved the tune to this song (been singing it for over 30 years now.) but I've never been crazy about the lyrics. Does anyone know if other texts have been written to the tune.

Thanks, rick

Hi Rick, search out SOLID FAS' in the DT(make sure you put in the apostrophe after the S). It's a Carribean version used as rowing shanty while hunting the Blackfish (whale). The chorus melody lines are somewhat different but it's as beautiful none the less. Barry

you know rick,I gotta agree, I love the song but not the lyrics! It's like someone had a jingle contest and the judge was drunk and stoned.

Thanks Barry. Interesting text, but I often stay clear of "dialect" songs. Rarely do "furriners" like me do 'em justice. I'm gonna keep lookin'
