How many do YOU remember of these songs.
I'm afraid that I could remember all of them except 3.

All long, long before my era. Mind you, they missed out I Am A Mole And I Live In A Hole

Likewise, Giok - there were 4 I didn't know. I could do almost all the rest at karaoke.

Three that didn't immediately spring to mind.

Oh my life. "Why do fools fall in love"? "Dream lover"? Pass the sick-bucket...

Looking through their lists though, I'm not greatly impressed by their selections. I mean, two entries for the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band in the 60s, but only one each for the Stones, Beach Boys and Animals? And not a single track from Queen, Meatloaf or Dire Straits in the 70s or 80s - how can you even talk about "best single" without Bohemian Rhapsody, Bat out of Hell or Money for Nothing? No Don Maclean. No Genesis. No Eagles. Not much rock at all, except for the 70s where they really couldn't avoid Led Zep. Not even Irene Cara doing Flashdance, which for me is the epitome (or nadir depending on your tasts ;-) of early/mid-80s music. And house music gets one single mention in the 80s with "Pump up the volume", when it was practically all you could find in the charts in the late-80s.

Graham.

I can remember snippets of the vast majority but all the lyrics of a precious few.In my youth I was more a fan of country music.I would be more familiar with 50's country.Folk music truly entered my life only near the end of the decade.

I only looked at the fifties and recognised the names of about 27 of them, but I wouldn't remember from that decade, rather later when they were still being played in the 60's and 70's. I'll have to look at those ones, too.

I remember many of them. I listened to lots of rock in the NYC area in the late 50's

I remember most of them. But these guys seem to think that the Fifties started in 1955. There's half a decade of songs missing from the list.

It's not a very comprehensive list I admit, but remember that it's compiled by DJs mostly. Not the sharpest of tacks.

Are the Bobbettes and the Chips red herrings put in to check on the veracity of people claiming to know them all?
I could sing and play all the rest.

No, the Bobettes were a real group, and Mr. Lee was their hit.

I remember most of the '50's hits, but I recognize less with each decade after that. I discovered country music about the time that the Beatles became popular in the U.S. and never looked back.

Very UK-centric. Tommy Steele "Singing the Blues" was a cover of Guy Mitchell. Of course I was still in the UK at the time, and I still know far too many of them. I wish I could use some of that memory space for the songs I've tried to learn over the last few years, and forgotten already. Memory is a funny thing as you get older. These days, I have to work so much harder.
