01 Feb 08 - 08:30 AM (#2250321) Subject: RE: Lincoln Session This Sunday From: GUEST,Dáithí Heheh..when I was at school I was taught that the spelling of Irish was designed to disguise its pronunciation, and so it proved! Of course English spelling is also just as easy According to GB Shaw, you can spell Fish "GHOTI" - GH = F, as in rough, O=I as in Women, and TI = sh, as in station... Dáithí = "Dah-hee" (emphasis on first syllable)is near enough - the accent over the vowels makes them long, and the "th" is just an aspirate ("h"). Good luck - look forward to seeing you then, then.
