Quick, lad! cover the poor lass up or you'll have the peelers at the door in no time!

Looks good enough to send a mash note to....

Back in the 1970's in Australia, we used to be able to buy 'Mutton Bird Tanning Oil' - made from boiled down Mutton Birds -

Look, I'm not making this up! -

and it was the most amazing thing. If applied AFTER light sunburn (too much sun -> pink stage), it would 'brown' within about 12 hours, and relieve most of the pain. Often wondered what was in it. The only side effect was the smell...

Seriously, I'm not making this up!

BTW, I've still got a can of 'Genuine Turtle Soup' in my cupboard...

I saw her mashing under the bleachers with one of the Baker boys. She blushed a Russet red!

Can't see the cartoon, as of late afternoon Feb 20 ~ "internet explorer cannot display the webpage."

Foolestroupe: I'm surprised you should find anything amusing or unusual about a can of turtle soup. Turtle soup is quite common in New Orleans, a cornerstone of Creole cusiine available both in no-frills neighborhood eateries and in the classiest and most expensive white-tablecloth restaurants. (The fancy joints make it a point to pour in a shot of sherry wine at the table.)

Come to think of it, though, I can't recall seeing canned turtle soup at the supermarket. It probably needs to be fresh to be any good.

Also: the word "Genuine" on your soup label has meaning because there is such a thing as "mock turtle soup." I don't know what they use to substitute for turtle, but there apparently is a standard recipe.

The turtle soup (Labelled Real Turtle Soup) was bought many years ago - I had never seen it before either. Most likely bought it in Adelaide S.A. - they often have a widely differing range of products from other Aust cities.

I've tried to load it several times every day, since Alice posted the link, and not managed. I'll do a caption for Emma B's link.
