Lyr Req: Fly Eddie Fly (Eddie "the Eagle" Edwards)

Mudcat is my last hope.
I know that the song I am looking for does not really fit here, but I desparately need the lyrics of the song FLY EDDIE FLY.
The song was sung by Eddie "the Eagle" Edwards, a British ski jumper who achieved quite some fame in the 1980-ies (actually because of his lack of success)

Looking for the one by "The Arrogant Worms," but couldn't find it.
Here is one by the "Watchers."

Eddie

1
He was different from the rest; wasn't sleek, wasn't sure,
But deep inside his spirit longed to fly
He lined up to be counted. He waited with the best
And when his turn came round he had a try.

Chorus:
Fly like an eagle. Show us what it means
To follow your dreams no matter how high
Take us with you as you go. Don't let your fear show.
And fly like an eagle, Eddie, fly.

2
As he raced to needless death, the crowd all held its breath
And when he took the jump into the sky
No longer tied to earthly things this hero soared on shining wings.
And the crowd all shouted, "Fly, Eddie, Fly."

3
Well we know he wouldn't win but we really didn't care,
He was the man we all wanted to see
We watched him leap up high and we wanted him to fly,
For we knew, if he could do it, so could we.

Eddie

Thank you Q, but this is not the one I'm looking for.
The chorus goes something like

Fly Eddie Fly, Fly Eddie Fly
The eagle won't be landing
And at least I'll have a try ..

and it is Eddie Edwards himself singing the song.

I couldn't find any lyrics by searching with Google, but here's an article at Wikipedia about Eddie "the Eagle" Edwards, with lots of links. Maybe you could find something by following up the links.

One stanza of the lyrics was:

The East Germans they got angry
They said I was a clown
But all they want is winning
And they do it with a frown

Despite the black screen on the video, the song does play after a few seconds.
