10 Apr 08 - 04:27 AM (#2311842) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: GUEST,Whippett Well like man it should be on the Summer Solstice like but it could be sometime in July man, like when we can get our heads round it. |
10 Apr 08 - 04:55 AM (#2311856) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: Big Al Whittle theres this guitarist and he plays these open tunings man - and you know it removes all the need for formal technique. Just plays these sub atomic cadences and it sounds great when you're really chilled out. And in a way I bet Irish music was like that before they got all tight assed and and the Catholic Church took over it. You can see it when they dance - you know jumping about, like Africans. And Davy Graham and Brian Jones himself went to Africa. Sympathy for the Devil, man! If you go Morroco, you can still see these cats beating out rhythms on cardboard boxes, a bit like the Irish bodhrans. On an astral plane - it all related. This festival sounds really cosmic. |
10 Apr 08 - 05:07 AM (#2311868) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: Big Al Whittle You can laugh, but I heard that Froots gave this cat's album six stars. Cool shit like the Chieftains and Christy Moore gets like five stars, but this guy got SIX! Apparently the record company sent round a crate of scotch, and you know man everyone in the office was getting off on the Aeolian prograssions..... |
10 Apr 08 - 06:15 AM (#2311902) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: GUEST,Whippett Yeah sounds cool like. I hope it was fairtrade Scotch and fairtrade Cardboard for that matter. Get him to move to Eat Anglia man and then we can like book him. He can get on the bill if he brings some stuff over fairtrade hash like man. |
10 Apr 08 - 06:40 AM (#2311911) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: Mr Happy 'Eat Anglia man?' Cannibals? |
10 Apr 08 - 06:51 AM (#2311915) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: Big Al Whittle Apparently that Anderson bloke said, this is complete balls. Cos you know even he could see it was the music of the spheres. he could relate to it man. And they had this temp in, that Brook Street had sent round - so they let her write the review. Sometimes the untutored mind just sees things that bit clearer.... I've always held to that. Anyway The Guardian saw the review and this chick's working for them now. Only she got fired, cos she could really spell, and they like to keep it a bit loose at The Guardian. One time none of the words fitted the crossword. they were just giving the readers an extra dimension of freedom, they could edit all the words themselves...cut bits out if they felt like it. Cool about the gig, I'll tell him if I bump into him. I've got the same star sign as his sister, so its quite likely. Capricorn - you know what a drag that is...... |
10 Apr 08 - 07:16 AM (#2311925) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: GUEST,Whippett Only Eat Anglia if it's veggi man. So was you like twins seperated at birth man. |
10 Apr 08 - 03:18 PM (#2312295) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: Tig OK, I appreciate that some people need a little release but shouldn't this have been taken below the line before people REALLY start looking for this festival? |
10 Apr 08 - 03:29 PM (#2312301) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: Herga Kitty Nice one, Whippett - probably should be below the line though, unless you can hastily arrange a festival in Kipper country... Kitty |
10 Apr 08 - 03:37 PM (#2312311) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: GUEST,The Mole Catcher's unplugged Apprentice for taking the p**s out of folk, The Crab Wars - The Kipper Family and anything by Les Barker and The Mrs. Ackroyd Band. Charlotte R (whistling along to The Royders of the Lost Ack March) |
10 Apr 08 - 06:34 PM (#2312471) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: Big Al Whittle So much dissonance. So much hassle. All these cats going on about above the line and and below the line. You know what that is....spiritual catarrh! If we can get transcendental for just a minute it would be likke farting and sneezing - and getting rid of all this stuff that's blocking your chakras..... If you really want to dig folk music, come with me and dance on the crossroads of the ley lines between Mansfield and Sutton in Ashfield....its like Robert Johnson and Copper family and all that, went down to the crossroads fell down on my knees and what few nuts that poor girl had she threw them all away... Get cool..... for its then when the hurdy gurdy man comes singing songs of love.... |
11 Apr 08 - 04:14 AM (#2312716) Subject: RE: Sainsbury Folk Fest Heath July line up From: GUEST,Whippett Like well said man. The only lines we know are ley lines and the ones that my prep school teacher gave me for missing rugby. Like wow man forgot that we are waiting to see if The Hurdy Gurdy Men can come with their music and rotissary chicken stall (like free range organic fair trade chicken man) they come highly recommended by Ken Johnson. Also late addition is Bob Whorley and the Whalers from the Wash they do a mean song called 'I Shallott and the Serif' it's all about onions and typefaces, like far out man. |
