Mudgather Alcester UK Sat 21st June 2008

Looks like we've got another MudGather on our hands Folks *hurrah* Marje & the team have kindly allocated the Nursery room (presumably in Sports Hall, but I'll check that out) on the Saturday from 4.30pm. First suggestion was just for an hour, but we might be able to extend that to 2 hours dependant on what's scheduled next.

So, who's coming to Alcester?

We're there but may be working when you do the mud gather. Anyway the Nursery is round the side of the Greig centre itself and where we run the Folk Club on the Friday night. See you over the week-end anyway.

The Sports Centre is in front of the Greig and to the left; the Nursery room is to the right and behind. It's where we had the singarounds at the Winter Warmer in February.

Steve and I are doing stuff but we don't know what or when yet. We'll try to make it to the mudgather if we're not working.

Sorry Hils, won't be able to make it this time as I've just found out I'm being "rested" this year to make way for fresh faces... hmm...
Hope to see you and all the rest of the Catters somewhere else.

I'll have to take a year off too Hils as I hope to be in the Glacier National Park.
Hope everyone has a great (and dry - well rain free) festival.

Well I'm in London the previous Sunday for a decidedly unfolkie event, David Gilmour, Ron Geesin and orchestra and chorus performing the Pink Floyd/Ron Geesin piece, Atom Heart Mother, but I think me and the fiddle can make to Alcester the following weekend.:-)

Karen and I will be there, and look forward to the "mudgather", if my stewarding duties permit. Any cheese and stuff in the caravan, Hils ??

Moorleyman, EmmaB, Tig & Badger: So sorry to hear that you can't come this year, we'll pass around hugs for you! Hope all goes well and that you have safe journeys!

So, (duties permitting) Kitty & Derek, Gilli & Tony, Dave & Brenda, Christine & Steve, Snuffy, Roger & Karen & hopefully Def Shepard, looks like we could have a quorum at least *grin* I'll probably hang around till 6.30pm then so people can pop in around duties. Yes, the Nursery Room is around back of course, it's been a long time, a year maybe....

Chocolate anyone??????

Not sure whether there'll be enough of us to warrant a MudRaffle. I'll bring a prize or two just in case, but perhaps passing around a hat for donations for the Mudcat might be a better idea & less intrusive? What do people think?

Roger: am collecting cheese as we speak. Had to give part of my collection to the foxes last Sunday as they failed inspection in Devon, but the foxes appear to be OK & it just means that the cheese will be more 'in' date *grin*

We're away again from today till Sunday, so I'd be grateful if Catters could keep this up near the top, thanks!

Meanwhile, have a great weekend & safe journeys wherever you are!

I shan't be at Alcester this year, so no Herbaceous Border in the Holly Bush garden, though there will be some 'proper' sides dancing there over the weekend, I'm sure.

Hi Hils
Pity it overlaps with the singaround I am hosting in The Lord Nelson, which is between 3.00pm and 5.00pm.
Still, I hope to see everyone at the Lord Nelson between 3pm and 4.25pm...
"Fare thee well, my Julianna ..."!

Looking forward to joining you - we've just got our schedule and we're down for 'singing with Guests' after the Mudgather - we're there from 7.30pm - so that fits in nicely.

We're also on at the Town Hall later in the evening. Possibly 8.45pm.

See you all soon

Bring your spare pennies as we might just be able to raise some funds for the MudCat, I'll bring a prize or two for a MudRaffle!

Meanwhile I'd best start packing, just need to follow my nose to find the cheese......

Thanks Guru - great gather.

PS Awning for sale .. interesting semi-geodesic design, "The Picasso" by Windblown Inc., after Richard Rogers. Quite good condition in places. Also control tent 3D jigsaw kit - requires only needle & thread to complete.

Oh Dear !! Duties proved more onerous than I thought, so had to miss the mudgather ! Saw loads of Catters about the place, though, and enjoyed the sessions in the "Cross Keys"---what a venue !! I like the idea of a 93 hour bar extension !!How civilised !!And we had a walk round Alcester on Sunday----what a pretty place !! Shame about the wind & rain, though.

It was glorious weather when we left Alcester this morning after a great, if slightly weather challenged, weekend. Luckily we got away with only one broken bit of pole but I know the marquee on the camping field is now designated for the Great Tent in the Sky :-)

Thanks a lot Hils for getting the Gather (and chocolate) together. It was good to see so many faces both old and new.

An Alcester to be remembered for Singing Breakfasts, good artistes, lots of laughs - oh, and not being able to use the Grieg Hall except for a somewhat shortened sing in the Rotunda due to a cockup. Thanks to all the organisers and helpers for such a brilliant weekend.

What a Fab weekend!! Well done to Organisers & Helpers alike for managing to keep the Festival going despite not being able to use the Greig Hall. Was very impressed by the enthusiasm of the Cross Keys, a very welcome addition to the Festival Venues!!!

Thanks to everyone who came to the Mudgather, it was lovely to see & hear so many Catters. Thanks too for bring prizes & selling yourselves the raffle tickets (wonderful idea, thanks Elizabeth), and to Doktor Doktor & Billy Suggers for their stalwart work in tearing & folding all the counterfoils. We raised £58 for MudCat funds & I'll get that transferred through banks asap. Fantastic!!

Chris Dear, 'fraid you're a bit late, it was last weekend! However we are going to a small Song & Ale in Hampshire this weekend that you might be interested in, PM me!

Green Man, I'm so sorry I didn't pop you on this Register, musta slipped my mind as you hadn't posted on this thread before the weekend.

Likewise I really think I should have put Alcestermarje & dave alcester on the list - I suspect they were both a bit busy too! Huge apologies!

Guest, aeola - would have been good to see/hear you at the MudGather, maybe next next?

Does anyone know if Def Shephard managed to get to Alcester?

John Routledge, shame on you! Of course Chocolate is necessary *grin*
