I'll be holding up the start of the Oysterband gig on Friday night at the campsite, and doing a guitar workshop on Saturday - any standard, come with queries of any kind and I'll get the other people who came along to advise you! See you in sessions and singarounds too no doubt. Tom

I'll be there - for the first time. Dancing with Exmoor Border (Blue & pale bluey-green tatters and VERY flowery hats). I'll look out for you JohnB.

I'd welcome any info about singarounds too.

Also - does anyone know when the campsite opens and whether you can stay Sunday night? Couldn't find this info on the web-site or in the morris paperwork. (Have tried e-mailing too)

There is a folk club above the town festival office on Saturday which is run by Patti and Ned.
I will see you around sue.I am in the office on Saturday if you want to pop your head in.
Yas.

Well I supose most of you are on your way by now but Newport Folk Club will be in the Folk Club on Friday night and if there are any sings going let us know, evidently we are camping on C23, hope it's big enough for all of us. Someone asked why we have'nt been before, it's because we go to Minehead to support a charity festval run by Mike And Di, this year it's next weekend. Yes we'll all be there.

Back from Chepstow. Amazing that with all the torrential rain over the weekend (including water coming through the ceiling of the Folk Club Room) it didn't once interfere with the dancing.

JohnB - it was great to dance with you and the rest of Orange Peel Morris. We (that's Exmoor Border) really enjoyed sharing your enthusiasm. I do hope you'll take the Bed'th Hakka over to Canada and do your own version.

Well done to Dame Pattie and Splott Man for running the Saturday Folk Club, especially with the odds rather stacked against you! Enjoyed lots of the songs esp JohnB Chris and Ali doing Frobisher Bay. (Thanks to Chris and Bev for the Friday too)

Sue

There's not really any Chepstow 'folk group' to speak of really... all fell by the wayside. I think it's not quite found its identity properly yet - is it a folk festival, a festival of Morris or ? Still trying to work it all out really. Needs more organisers and more town involvement I think. still hopefully it will get bigger and bigger? Who knows...

The sessions in the Three Tuns seemed to go all right. Locals were friendly and the Finns were vocal.

I noticed that it felt very different from last year , different vibe really . the weather was lousy , but knowone could have done anything about that . There was a heavy emphasis on singer/songwriter stuff thats not really my taste , but again it floats other peoples boats , although I enjoyed the festival as a whole I thought there was a shortage of truly memorable performers ... last year Dick Gaughan was incredible , and also Johnny Collins, whos' performance and presense I don't think I will ever forget ... this year what was there ? The Oyster Band , gawd bless 'em , who were great and folkier than the last time I saw them at he Big Session and ( one of the blandest things I had ever seen ) but good for you , keep it going folks

We thoroughly enjoyed it, the singing in the folk club on friday and saturday night also the singing on the bus on the way back to the camp site. The line up could have been a little more folkie but it's always nice to see some of the new young people coming on, whether they join us in later life we will have to see. I think Mick and his team of organiser did a very good job and deserve our congratulations.

Thanks from the 19 of us who were there from Nweport Folk Club

The band that was on in the Coach AND Horses on Friday night were superb. It has always been a morris festival until last year when it was thought a good idea to bring in some folk music.I am sure next year it will be even better than the last two years. Why don't you all put your views on a piece of paper and send them too-.

I wasn't trying to be negative in my comments. I enjoyed all the things I went to and took part in. The dancing was very entertaining and enjoyable. I loved everyone's costumes they were great. Very different and individual styles. BIG shame about the lousy weather, but typical British everyone soldiered on which was good too.
