I want to know if there are other Eric Andersen fans out there. I have followed this guy from his early beginnings, "Thirsty Boots", "Violets of Dawn" to the present....including some of his misteps into rock.. His most recent jazz oriented recordings are pretty good.

I like some of his music. I must admit that I haven't paid attention to much past "Ghosts upon the Road," but I did at least find that to be an interesting album in itself. I think he is back living in Europe now, but I'm not sure.

He has just been touring the UK and I have his new album which ain't half bad. Incidentally when I performed his "Thirsty Boots" at Beverley a couple of years ago I was accused of being an old hippy.

"Old Beatnik" would be more like it. Eric had already been around for a while before the folk scene began moving toward hippy-ness.

And what's rong with being an Old Hippy, anyway? I'm one, and an unapologetic one at that.

I can't say I am an Eric Andersen fan, but "Blue River" is one of my favorite CD's (OK, it was an album when I first heard it). "I've not always been faithful, but I always have been true." Some reviewer called this recording "his masterpiece".

Were there any of us folkies from the 60's that DIDN'T sing "Thirsty Boots"? I know it's one of my favorites. And I remember being disappointed that Anderson started recording with - gasp - a band.

Eric Anderson was one of the very few strictly-acoustic folk acts on the legendary "Festival Express" train ride across Canada in the early 1970s.

He does not appear in the recently-released feature film, but if you get a chance to see the DVD, he performs "Thirsty Boots" as one of the "bonus tracks" on Disk One.

(If you're renting the Festival Express DVD, which is a two-disk set, you should know that ALL the musical performances are on Disk One: the complete theatrical release plus a bunch of additional songs. Disk Two is all talk ~ interesting enough, but not essential. If you just want to enjoy the music, rent the first disk and don't bother with the other.)
