Lyr ADD: The Hippie Song-God Damn Hippies

Subject: The Hippy Song
From: Craig

I am looking for the lyrics to the Hippy song... all I can remember is the chorus:

    Goddamn hippies ain't served here,
it's been that way for goddamn years,
sure as hell ain't goddman starting now.
Why don't you buy some goddamn soap,
stop smoking all that goddamn dope,
and watch your goddamn language in this town."

Does anyone remember/know this one?

Here's what I know:

I drove into a gas station, directions for to get,
When a guy came out to greet me, like the guy on the TV Set.
I thought that he'd salute me like there all suppossed to do,
But when he saw my mop his jaw half dropped and his hair had turned to blue.
(Chorus)

Now I could see that his here fella didn't think too much of me,
So I thought I'd see what would happen if I tried some flattery.
I told him he had lovely eyes, and that his ass was cute,
And that his plastic Bow-tie went real lovely with his suit.
(Chorus)

When I tried to tell him that Jesus had hair as long as mine,
and so did all the others, in the Bible he would find,
He cried out why that's sacrilage, that's goddamn herisey,
As far as I know, The Lord had a goddamn brush-cut just like me.
(Chorus)

Song was done by Big Montana Dick

These words are slightly different from the ones posted by Rick above. Copied from http://foggys-funnies.com/j/jokes/2002/02/18.shtml.

THE HIPPIE SONG

I pulled into a gas bar, directions for to get.
A guy came out to greet me just like they do on the TV set.
I was hoping he'd salute me, just like they're supposed to do,
But he took one look at my shaggy hair and my beat-up running shoes
And he said,

CHORUS: "Goddamn hippies ain't served here.
Been that way for Goddamn years.
Sure as hell ain't Goddamn startin' now.
Why don't you buy some Goddamn soap,
Stop smokin' all that Goddamn dope,
And watch your Goddamn language in our town."

Well, I sure could see this fella didn't think too much of me,
And I wondered what would happen if I tried some flattery.
So I told him he had gorgeous eyes and that his hair was cute,
And that his plastic bow-tie sure went lovely with his suit,
And he said... (CHORUS)

So I tried to tell him Jesus has hair as long as mine,
And so did all the others in the Bible, he would find.
Well, he yelled out, "That's sacrilege! That blasphemy! That's Goddamn heresy!
As far as I know, the Goddamn Lord has a brush-cut just like me.
Oh...(CHORUS)

I too have been looking for this song, but I actually remember its name as "Plastic Bowtie Blues." (I could be wrong -- old fogey, failing memory, etc.) I was in a Sam the Record Man store many years ago and actually located a copy on a 45, but foolishly failed to buy it.

Woe is me!

I ran across this while searching for the above song:
Copied from http://thebanzai.com/music/williams_lyrics_hippies.php :

HIPPIES JOGGING
(Joe Williams)

Well, I've seen hippies jogging,
Stoned out of their noggins,
Wearing them Birkenstockings down my street.
They got their hippie hairdos flopping
And the veins in their foreheads popping.
It's about the dangdest thing you ever want to see.

See, 'cause hippies ain't supposed to be jogging.
They're supposed to be smoking a bong and
Puffing the magic dragon, or picking their teeth,
Or getting shaky waiting for their drop-off,
Or dilating their eyes 'til they pop off,
So, I don't like jogging hippies, nosiree.

See, now some of them ones I see
Are looking like them freaks on MTV.
It shook my bones so deep that I almost cried.
Nowadays you can't trust nothing,
But I'll tell you jogging hippies something:
Maybe now you can run, but you still can't hide.

See, 'cause what the heck good is a hippie
If he ain't gonna act all trippy?
They're so doped up, they don't know what
Or how they're supposed to be;
And what the heck good is a stereotype
If the people who it is can't get it right?
I mean, the times they are a-changing, yes indeed.

[Sung by Joe Williams on "Joe Williams," Banzai Entertainment CD #1966, 2002.]

It's funny how people are hostile to the hippies now. Sure, the hippies did drugs, but that's all people remember. Nobody remembers the companionship, the flowers, the beads, the pretty clothes, the music and their repudiation of war.

Hippie is a term of hate now. In my opinion, an old-fashioned hippie was just an urban hillbilly.

hippie .... yippee .... media jargon.
this was a cultural age in which I lived (along with many Mudcatters).
Today I'm a grandfather now (2x).

The 'anti-hippie' of my lifetime was 'Wrong Old Ray-Gun' who made a political platform running against my generation. Great quote here from
RWR - 'A hippy is someone who dresses like Tarzan, has hair like Jane and smells like Cheetah' (lol).
