07 Jun 99 - 04:24 AM (#84545) Subject: Jerry O'Connor From: bseed(charleskratz) This afternoon while driving home from the dog park I heard an extremely hot Irish (I think) fiddle tune played by what I guessed was a National steel mandolin, a banjo==very fast, reminded me of Seamus Eagan, and a penny whistle. I had about ten more minutes of driving befoe I got hope so I hoped I would hear who it was. The announcef started listing what he had just played about the time I drove behind a hill and the broadcast came in and out. I did hear the name Jerry O'Connor, but I'm not sure if it was in connection with that piece. Can anyone elucidate? --seed |

He has recorded a solo album or two. They are both Irish. If either played with Seumas Egan my guess would be Gerry Banjo - but don't take my word for it. The wife of Gerry O'Connor of La Lugh, singer and flute player Eithne Ní Uallacháin, died suddenly last month and is much missed. |

Track number 9 is called``Cam a'Lochaigh´´. I think this fits your discription....very fast,with Gerry on banjo,fiddle,guitar.Vinnie Kilduff on whistle,mandolin and PeterEades on bass. This is the Gerry o'Connor that played with Four Man And A Dog. We've had them over a couple of times for the Oslo Irish Music Festival,and I bought this CD off Gerry in January this year.Great stuff.....mostly original. Irish music seems to have conquered Europe, at least--I think there are several other European Mudcatters who play Irish or are especially fond of the Celts.
