09 Sep 08 - 07:34 PM (#2435726) Subject: Bob Nelson in concert From: Deckman Bob Nelson here, in the Seattle area. I will be giving the first half of a two hour concert, this coming Friday evening, September 12th. John Weiss and Randall Walker will be performing the second hour. The location will be "THE CROWN HILL BISTRO", 850 NW 85th ST., Seattle. This will be my 8th concert, I think, since retiring a couple of years ago. Each concert gets better than the last, and since I've laid down my hammer and picked up my guitar ... I wake every morning with a huge smile on my face. If you're in the Seattle area, drop in! CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson |

13 Sep 08 - 04:22 PM (#2439403) Subject: RE: Bob Nelson in concert Sept 12/08 Seattle, WA From: Stewart I just want to report that Bob did a superb performance yesterday. Since his return to performing after his retirement he just gets better every time he performs. I got a glimpse of what the young Bob must have been like singing at the Seattle coffeehouses in the 1960s. He added some new songs to his repertoire - The Poker Game and Dark Eyed Molly - in addition to his signature song, Peter Amberly. The only disappointment was that he didn't sing enough songs, but we did get him to do an encore. He was followed by John Weiss and Randall Walker who also did a fine job of singing and playing (JW on guitar and Randall on banjo). They began with When The Whiskey's Gone, and then did some Utah Phillips songs to commemorate his passing. Randall sang some of his rare cowboy songs, and JW had to do a request, Seven Beers With The Wrong Woman. They had a great audience which joined in the singing. And the Pacific Northwest Folklore Society seems to be attracting a good following at its concerts. I'll try and post some mp3s and videos on the web site soon. Cheers, S. in Seattle |
14 Sep 08 - 12:44 AM (#2439764) Subject: RE: Bob Nelson in concert Sept 12/08 Seattle, WA From: Deckman Stew ... " I got a glimpse of what the young Bob Nelson must have been like ..." I don't know how to break the news to you ... but THIS IS THE YOUNG BOB NELSON! (thanks for the kind words). I have to agree with Stew that the Pacific Northwest Folklore Society concert venues are really attracting a strong and enthusiastic crowd. Each concert gets stronger and strgonger. Just check out the website and look at the many different venues and past performances. Seattle in 2008 is becoming as vital and alive as it was in the 50's and 60's. CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson |
