Don't even think about it Mr Firth! You cannot imagine the dire consequences of such an action. It is not wise to upset the Evil Sisterhood!

Jim Lad, here is Gordon's website.

I don't remember Gordon saying anything about Victoria, but the effecient and friendly folks who run Gordon's office will be able to tell you for sure.

I sure hope you can get to one or more of his shows!

I have fond memories of a musical evening when I was going to school at Western Washington University, back in the late 1970s. Dad and a friend or two (Jean? Susi? I think) drove up and my roommate and I joined them for a concert Gordon was doing on campus. As I recall Dad wasn't feeling good so his party drove back home instead of meeting Flip (now Breslin, was Auer) over at Fairhaven for some apres-concert music with him. My roommate was so blow away that I had such "connections!" ;-D

I just checked the Victoria Folk Music Society website and it looks as if somebody named TBA is doing the concert on the 5th of October. Get Bok up there! It's a great venue for a large apreciative folk community, the whole south end of Vancouver Island from Sooke to Sidney.

How about Seattle a week from now? Isn't that closer? Or Bellingham??? next week. You could take the train or bus to Seattle and there are probably people who would put you up for a night or two. mg

Well, now ain't we the lucky ones!

Gordon and Carol (we are in negotiations as to keeping them) did a concert tonight here in Juneau, Alaska and it was lovely. There may even be music tomorrow night- well, it could happen.

If you could move Maine to Alaska with Penobscot Bay in the middle of it all, that would be a start!

Ebbie- Kindly communicate the following to Carol and Gordon:

Heave away your anchors; get yourselves back home!"

Indeed, it was a lovely concert, by lovely folks. What a repertoire. One after the other of very well written songs! Even sang one of yours, mg!

I didn't grow up on the coast of Maine, but some of his songs made me feel as though I had.

Like Ebbie said, it would be great to keep them, but we'd have those Mainiacs coming up here after them in no time.   Hmmmmm.........not a bad idea......

I don't know though, Eb. Seems to me Gordon's got Maine coursing through his veins.....might be tough work convincing him.... Think we could pass off a dungie for a lobster?

In Portland he sang Mary Garvey's song about the Oystermen (women)working during the blackout. The name escapes me at the moment, as mary has two on that topic. Was the Juneau concert well attended KT?
Portland was, and I had a chance to meet Carol, but we couldn't come up with a harp for her. Dang.
It was a lovely evening, tho I think they may have been a bit jet lagged.
Blessings,
Barbara

It's likely the song was Oystershell Road, which I am learning but still haven't tried outside the house - a great song!

That's it. The other one is called Oysterman, I think. It's about trading your oyster harvesting gear, one item at a time, for a soldier's kit.
Just called my brother in Juneau, and he said the concert was "perfect", very well attended, and in the background I could hear Gordon singing "Goodnight Loving Trail". The Monday music party was at his house, and cooking along just fine. "Wish you were here," he said. "Yah, me too."
Blessings,
Barbara
