BS: Ryder Cup?

The Ryder Cup is a ridiculous piece of continentism that excludes many of the world's finest golfers. And as for...

MAJORS (Poem 221 of 230)

If golf taps the world for its players
(And few would deny that so),
Why, then, are three of four majors
    A United States Tour show?

Mebbe so, but anybody that watched it today on TV saw some great golf from both teams.

A good walk ruined ! Nick Faldo coming across as very arrogant in interviews. Past team captains tended to be media friendly.

No offense WAV but instead of fretting over the Ryder Cup perhaps your time would be better spent reading "Poetry for Dummies".
There's been some phenomenal golf at Valhalla the last couple of days. I love match play and I'm looking forward to today's single matches.

I don't think this is any place to be discussing Winona's underwear.

...The World Cup of Golf is much more my cup of tea/"jar at the bar" (below/undies)...

Poem cum song 144 of 230: LINGOLF

Your honour, Your Honour.
    Watch out - he's a burglar.
I'm to school on your put.
That's one heck of a cut!

It's my bread and butter -
    A left-to-right cutter.
That's where elephants die.
    That's a grave - not a lie.

I'm in the old plumb-duff;
    Tough - I'm on the cut-stuff.
The hooks with my driver,
    And fades with my putter.

There's a goalie in there.
    Trees are some nine-tenths air.
I have a soldier's plight -
    Always left, right, left, right.

Everything was fine -
    Apart from weight and line.
It took a member's bounce.
    A rare bird to announce.

An unlucky horseshoe.
Had a look - liked the view.
Poetry in motion.
    Read with blind devotion.

He's just hit a cracker.
    I'm only a hacker.
I wish I'd missed the well.
    A fried-egg where it fell.

A crop of a divot.
It was speed that killed it.
Your wedges land so neat -
    Butterflies with sore feet.

Like pitchin' in puddin'.
    Never up, never in.
Drive for show, put for dough.
Can't beat bad luck, you know.

He's just missed a gimme.
    That, then, would be dormy.
It went in the side-door.
    A Bradman of a score.

Just spoiled a good walk.
Can't play, but can he talk!
'Twas daylight robbery.
    Not "how" but "how many."

The nineteenth's not too far -
Have a jar at the bar..?

I was listening on the radio. It sounds like Holmes deserved everything he got on his last two holes.

On a more partisan tip ...... We'll get you next time!!! ;-)

I've just seen the highlights on BBC TV.

The standard of golf was simply sublime.

Some of the American team would probably have been on line to score nearly 10 under par for 18 holes of golf had they not disposed of their opponents so early which is quite astonishing.

Garca vs Kim is a prime example. Garcia said he played well. When I saw the score I expected to see him hacking around in the bushes, but kim scored 8 3's in a row to beat him.

It's always great when a tournament isn't lost but definitively won and that's clearly what happened today.

I think the Americans should have had 3 points deducted and 3 added onto the Euro score, as a penalty for being so rude and biased towards us Europeans.
Disgraceful attitude by the yanks.

I don't know if I agree Villan, I feel that the ryder cup is a different kind of event to other golf tournaments. Basic courtesy during the taking of shots etc should of course be observed, but there is something appealing to me about the rough and tumble of it.

Besides, the poor Americans haven't been allowed to take the cup home for a while so you can understand their desperation - especially as they'll be giving it back next time for another 7 years ;-)

Ditch it and focus on The World Cup of Golf (link above) for ALL golfing NATIONS.

I'll enjoy both.

Do we have to scrap the Six nations or tri nations rugby for the same reasons?

No.

Look at the way Argentina played in the last Rugby world cup - they could have beaten South Africa and would most certainly have beaten England had they then got to the final.

That achievement isn't remotely diminished by the existence of tournaments which don't include them.

Its all good and its all fun.

The ryder cup is about an old rivalry, like the oxford v cambridge boat race, and has its own special brand of excitement.

Long may it prosper.

Haha so WAV wants to replace a unique competition dating back to the 1920's with a bland, global alternative. Yeah, good thinking there.

Wavyracistbigotdude......You have absolutely no say in this matter as golf is not English and as you desire only all things English, fuck off!!!

I just love when you post crap like this. Yet another chance to for you to show you're a friggin' dipstick! My money says you don't play at all do you? Or did you once try and found the only two balls you hit solidly all day was when you stepped on a sand rake?

And once again your "poetry" sucks owl dicks. Just an opinion of course but seems to be shared by many around here.

And just for the record.......This RC WAS some great golf and a fine competition as most others have said. You'd have known that if you hadn't been so enthralled with fitting that sand wedge up your ass...............

"Do we have to scrap the Six nations or tri nations rugby for the same reasons?" (Lox)...that's okay, as it's for NATIONS.
"The ryder cup is about an old rivalry" (Lox) and Joe...How long has it been EUROPE v America?
Spaw off his kitty litter, again - as I mentioned in walkaboutsverse.741.com I've collected almost a hundred golf-course score-cards; and, as a club member for a couple of years, had a B-grade handicap.
Yes - agianst globalisation and, in this case, continentism.
Nationalism, rather, with eco-travel and fair-trade and sporting competitions, is good for humanity.
