It will be in the form of SINGERS' NIGHTS that will take place every Tuesday.

Yes, Les,

It's being organised by Don Davies, who used to be organiser of the Railway Folk Club, Lymm before he handed over to Stewart Lever some six or so years ago.

It is to be run as a singers' club, with occasional Saturday 'Special Guest' nights.

Admission £1.00, or 80p if you're a performer.

Click here for the United Services Club location.

See you there?

Well, this is excellent news Bernard, I will have to negotiate with the management. Will it have a traditional feel, lots of singer-songwriter stuff or who can tell?

Cheers

My guess is Don will run it the way he used to run the Railway Folk Club singers nights. It suited some, and didn't suit others... which is always the way these things will be!

Talking of the Railway, it has been rumoured Dunham Brewery are planning to buy it and turn it into a micro-brewery, using the pub as a... pub! If that is what happens, it has to be a Good Thing!

Full house tonight.

Very enjoyable evening!

Will be back next week, hopefully.

OK, who else was there? I've got a lousy memory for faces, but I've got a sneaking feeling there were more Mudcatters in Sale tonight than just myself and Alan.

It was a good night; a fine roster of performers and a packed room - there must have been 50 of us there. The setup, for John & anyone else who's curious, was pretty much taking turns around the room; Don decided in what order he was going to call people, but he was pretty scrupulous about giving everyone a fair crack of the whip. Not so much traditional stuff & not so much unaccompanied singing as at the Beech, but a fair amount of both. Cheap beer, too.

I'll definitely be going again, although another time I'll wait for the bus rather than trying to walk to the next stop before it comes - I wound up walking home to Chorlton.

Hi Brakn - which one were you tonight? I was the Phil who did a couple of unaccompanied numbers.

Hi Pip, I melted into the background and didn't perform.

Wasn't there anyone who could've given you alift?

Even though we didn't stay the course, Clare and I really enjoyed the evening. Lovely to see all the old faces again especially with Don at the helm. Missed Trevor though, goes without saying.

Helen.

Thanks for the insight Pip. Looks like a great addition to the singing scene in SW Manchester.

Sorry I didn't make it after all... by the time I was finished with all the things I needed to do it was nine o'clock, so I decided to give it a miss after all.

Perhaps next week - there's no Morris practice, so 'I'm free'!

As for Florida... don't they have buses?

Yes, but the return bus would have been too early - it wouldn't have been worth the journey.

It was good to see so many familiar faces there; just like being back at the Railway.
Bernard was right (he usually is but don't say I said so) Don ran it in the same way as he used to run the Railway with his random selection of singing order - and of course his Borrowed Guitar.

Might not make it next week - could be saving myself for the Beech at Chorlton on Wednesday.

I only managed the last hour or so 'cos of Morris practice and had a pleasant evening. I hope to be back next week.

The excellent Thwaites Original is only £1.90 / pint!
