12 Nov 08 - 08:40 PM (#2492342) Subject: RE: Playing Banjo in Enfland From: GUEST,BanjoRay And for my sins I'll be driving one of the cars (hi Arnie!). There should be a few more gigs than the above list, but they're not totally sorted yet. I saw Uncle Henry's Favorites in August at Clifftop Appalachian String Band Festival doing really well in the String Band competition, and I'm looking forward to meeting these guys and seeing them perform in a few gigs. Many of you will know Debby Mclatchy, of course. She's been touring Britain once or twice a year since the 70s, and she's great fun and fine banjo playing singer and dancer. More information when it's available |

14 Nov 08 - 07:07 AM (#2493576) Subject: RE: Playing Banjo in England From: Surreysinger Banjo Ray - in Miscreant's defence, the title of the thread is Playing Banjos in England, so could mean all things to all people ... I just dipped in out of curiosity. However, had it been titled to show that it was about Debby McClatchy tour dates I'd have been more likely to have looked. Titling of a thread can make a lot of difference to how its treated,oe even looked at, I reckon |

15 Nov 08 - 09:38 AM (#2494538) Subject: RE: Playing Banjo in England From: VirginiaTam Whoa! Blast from the past.. and another continent. He won't remember me, but I was an employee in the HR/Payroll office at Piedmont Virginia Community College when Dick Harrington was on the faculty. Was also in a poetry workshop with him during VA Book Festival some years ago. I heard him perform with his then partner (can't remember her name - shame on me) at PVCC holiday shows. They were good. Too bad I am on the wrong side of England (Essex) to see you play and say hello to Dick. Hope you have great tour Arnie. |
