Anne Doyle, Eileen Dunne and Emer O Kelly have been around a while, but I don't thonk that long. Bibi Baskin was a fine looking woman in her day but not that far back I think. Don't recall her reading the news. |

She was a news reporter and later presented current affairs program Today Tonight. Gloria never read the news on RTE, although she may have done so on Ulster TV. |

The only two names on that list who haven't been mentiomed (excluding people who are recent additions to the news staff) are Mary Kennedy, who didn't start reading the news untile the 1980s and Geraldine McInerny. I can't definitely put a face on Geraldine, but I have no memory of ther being around in the 1970s and I think she is of much more recent vintage. Are we sure she was a news reader? RTE have had some very attractive program presenters over the years. Other names that spring to mind are Áine O Connor, Doireann Ni Bhriain and Thelma Mansfield. I watched a lot of TV back in the '70s and by default most of this was on RTE. I'm intrigued to know which presenter we're talking about here. |
