BE MORE CAREFUL

I am very sorry for you, is a pity that this is how your life is going to end as soon as you don't comply. As you can see there is no need of introducing myself to you because I don't have any business with you, my duty as I am mailing you now is just to KILL you and I have to do it as I have already been paid for that.

Someone you call a friend wants you Dead by all means, and the person have spent a lot of money on this, the person also came to us and told me that he want you dead and he provided us with your name ,picture and other necessary information's we needed about you. So I sent my boys to track you down and they have carried out the necessary investigation needed for the operation on you, and they have done that but I told them not to kill you that I will like to contact you and see if your life is Important to you or not since their findings shows that you are innocent.

I called my client back and ask him of you email address which I didn't tell him what I wanted to do with it and he gave it to me and I am using it to contact you now. As I am writing to you now my men are monitoring you and they are telling me everything about you.

Now do you want to LIVE OR DIE? As someone has paid us to kill you. Get back to me now if you are ready to pay some fees to spare your life, $30,000 is all you need to spend You will first of all pay $15,000 then I will send the tape to you and when the tape get to you, you will pay the remaining $15,000. If you are not ready for my help, then I will carry on with my job straight-up.

WARNING: DO NOT THINK OF CONTACTING THE POLICE OR EVEN TELL ANYONE BECAUSE I WILL KNOW. REMEMBER, SOMEONE WHO KNOWS YOU VERY WELL WANT YOU DEAD! I WILL EXTEND IT TO YOUR FAMILY, INCASE I NOTICE SOMETHING FUNNY.

DO NOT COME OUT ONCE IT IS 7:PM UNTIL I MAKE OUT TIME TO SEE YOU AND GIVE YOU THE TAPE OF MY DISCUSSION WITH THE PERSON WHO WANT YOU DEAD THEN YOU CAN USE IT TO TAKE ANY LEGAL ACTION. GOOD LUCK AS I AWAIT YOUR REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL CONTACT

LOL!!! The bad grammar and tortured syntax really adds to the sense of menace. By golly, I would be writing out my will at this point and informing the dogs that they will soon have to apply for a new owner/servant/feeder to meet their needs.

"Mission to complete"? Mission to delete, more like.

In addition to Snopes & all the other hoax-warning sites, you could check out

http://www.scambusters.org/

It's run by Jim and Audri Lanford, and they also send out a regular newsletter which is quite helpful. You could even write to them if you're worried (though this sounds like a classic try-it-on, and the perps - ever notice how much that word sounds like "pervs"? - obviously don't speak English as a first language). Jim & Audri are something of an information clearing-house and have probably seen this before. I know you don't need to be told not to answer it.

Then forget the scumbags who sent this to you.

Ah, it's an urban legend. See this:

I think you should start up an anonymizer (a service which reroutes your outgoing mail with an anonymous sourcepoint) and send them one of the Nigerian Prince letters we have collected. They deserve each other. Then, you could send the Nigerian Prince one of the assassination threat letters. FUn and games.

"I am going to kill you!"

"God be with you I want to send you five million dollars!"

"I only want $30,000 not to kill you."
"But you must send me your particulars first--bank account and address and so on."
"I am an intenrational assassin!! I don't send my particulars ot people on the INternet!!!"

"I cannot send you five million dollars until I can get it out of the country into your bank account!"

"COme and deliver it in person in an unmarked envelope, at the place and time of my choosing."

"I cannot do that!! They won't let me out of Nigeria."

"Then send me a cashiers check!"

"First send me $1500 dollars to handle the lawyers' fees to free the money from the current account and clear it for export!!"

"I am an ASSASSIN!! I don't send nobody $1500!!!!"

"But...I cannot send you five million dollars without this upfront cash!!!"

"I am going to kill you!!!"

Mwahahaha.

Read the link Bonnie sent.
It's not an urban legend, but a scam, and there is an address to which you can report it.

I can deal with scams that are simple scams that require a combination of gullibility and greed (or a need to 'get even'--see Amos's message), but mix terrorism in and it would would push it over the edge for me, and I'd report it.

I heard about this earlier on in the year. People in my neighborhood
were asked to report the letter if any of us found it in our inbox,
because several people received this type of message. It's just
another one of those mass-mailing-money-making-scams. I highly doubt
that any of those people would be harmed.
Those messages would usually be sent to your spam-mail, depending on
your spam-mail filter. If it's a maximum level filter, those messages
shouldn't even be found in your inbox.

I wouldn't be scared. I'd be worried about my friends and their less-than-savvy relations.

Look at the header and do an ARIN WHOIS lookup on the IP address(es).

And turn it over to the police. Don't mess around with death threats even if they do come from abroad.

Yes. It's still cyber-crime, however cranky. Report it here:

LOL, we are not at all scared here, just thought it was a fun new scam approach. "You only have to spend $30,000!!!"

I didn't know I was such a cut-rate item, or (conversely) that "just" could GO into a sentence with that amount of money.

We'll pray for them of course. ;~) Those men out there waiting-- it's COLD up in these mountains tonight!

Yeah, it is kind of insulting to be told you are worth only $30,000 isn't it? ;-) I would expect a payout of at least $50,000 for being knocked off!
