29 Dec 08 - 01:46 PM (#2526765) Subject: RE: BS: OBIT - Adrian Mitchell 1932 - 2008 From: greg stephens A lot of folkies(particularly old-school lefties) will have seen Adrian Mitchell reading at concerts and political meetings, and will have loved him dearly for it. He was a wonderful performer and a wonderful man. He wrote a large number of song lyrics for theatre shows, which many will have heard, as well as his prolific output of poems. I had the great privilege of collaborating with him in the 60's and 70': as composer and musical director I was involved in three shows with him. We wrote a lot of songs together, and had a lot of fun. A lovely man, sadly missed by many. There is another article in the Guardian today about him, Pinter, and Crick, by Jackie Ashley(don't know how to do clickies, sorry). The heading of the article is "In terms of spreading values, Mitchell mattered most", and I second that whole-heartedly. |
