BS: poem to help remember parts of speech?

My father remembers a poem from when he was in grammar school to help him remember the parts of speech. It had very clear definitions of each part, like, "an adverb tells you how, when or where." When I google, I only find this one short poem that has short (insufficient) definitions and examples (see: http://www.thehomeschoolingblog.com/2008/01/parts-of-speech-poem.html).

Does anybody have a source for another parts of speech mnemonic poem?

Thanks,

Jonathan

that looks like it might be the one..

when i was in jr. hi we learned an
experimental language program that
was based on a visitor from another
planet who was trying to analyze the
earthling language and the nouns were
calle "1's" and verbs were "2's" and
adjectives were called 3's and adverbs
were 4's or the other way around..

i have been confused ever since...
the program was soon discontinued
and those of us who learned it were
left to our own devices about how
to transfer the terms we had learned
to the "real" world definitions.

In place of a noun a pronoun stands,
As, he and she can clap their hands.
A preposition shows relation,
As, in the street or at the station.

That is all I remember.
Was that it?

I'm not sure any of those are the one my dad remembers, but thanks for the help!

I remember my 7th grade English teacher saying, "A Prepsition (Prepositional Phrase?) is anything a rabbit can do to a hill."

just go into Google or Yahoo, etc. and type in "poem about the parts of speech". There's pages of same, and similar poems.

THE PARTS OF SPEECH

Every name is called a NOUN,
As field and fountain, street and town

In place of noun the PRONOUN stands
As he and she can clap their hands

The ADJECTIVE describes a thing,
As magic wand and bridal ring

The VERB means action, something done -
To read, to write, to jump, to run

How things are done, the ADVERBS tell,
As quickly, slowly, badly, well

The PREPOSITION shows relation,
As in the street, or at the station

CONJUNCTIONS join, in many ways,
Sentences, words, or phrase and phrase

The INTERJECTION cries out, 'Hark!
I need an exclamation mark!'

Through Poetry, we learn how each
of these make up THE PARTS OF SPEECH.

Here's another poem on parts of speech:

A NOUN is the name of anything
Like HOOP or BUCKET, SOUP or STRING.

ADJECTIVES tell about the noun
Like BIG or LITTLE, PINK or BROWN.

VERBS tell of something to be done
To JUMP, to SING, to PUSH or RUN.

Instead of nouns the PRONOUNS stand
Like HE for John, SHE for Jane, IT for hand.

How things are done the ADVERBS tell
Like SLOWLY, QUICKLY, BADLY, WELL.

CONJUNCTIONS join the words together
Like you AND me, wind AND weather.

PREPOSITIONS tell us where things are
Like OVER the hill or UNDER the bar.

When you can say this poem right through
Parts of speech will be easy for you.
