06 Feb 09 - 03:15 AM (#2558725) Subject: First and third Wednseday at the Beech, From: Les in Chorlton Last Wednesday we made the possibly rash decision to meet at the Beech for a Singaround on the third Wednesday as well as the first. I have to say the Singaround, which has been running for just over a year, has turned out much better than I had dared to hope. We fill the Snug each month and the quality of songs, tunes, stories and choruses has been extremely high - as has the friendship and good company brought by all. The pub has had a serious refurbishment and with the odd exception has a good choice of cask ales. Thanks to all those of you who have been. A warm invitation goes out to all those who have thought they might come, but didn't quite make it. Wednesday 18 February will be the next Singaround. Please pass this invitation to friends singers or otherwise, I guarantee a great evening of songs and tunes mostly but not exclusively traditional. L in C |
06 Feb 09 - 03:08 PM (#2559327) Subject: RE: First and third Wednseday at the Beech, From: Spleen Cringe Les, I think it's a good shout. If it doesn't work we can always hold our hands up and go back to monthly... at least in the meantime we're helping to ensure our chances of keeping a venue! |
07 Feb 09 - 04:24 AM (#2559801) Subject: RE: First and third Wednseday at the Beech, From: Les in Chorlton Thanks Nigel, when I think of all the people who have been to the Beech in the last year and all the others who said they might we should have no problem - if we get a few less - those that come will get more than the two songs we manage at the moment. Cheers Les |

12 Mar 09 - 01:45 PM (#2587297) Subject: RE: First and third Wednesday at the Beech (UK) From: Les in Chorlton The Ceilidh was excellent. The Leeds Occasional Band AKA Hands Across the Pennines were brilliant the dancers danced to a stand still to the peerless calling of Rob! And we raised £250 for Ghyll Head Outdoor Education Centre. Next Wednesday is the third one of the month so to speak. Who is up for an evening of songs and tunes mostly but not exclusively traditional at The Beech on Beech Road? Oh and another Singaround 1 - 5pm then a Ceilidh Saturday 4 April, Chorlton Big Green Festival, st Clements church, High Lane, Chorlton Cheers Les in Albifura cum Chorlton |

19 Mar 09 - 08:39 PM (#2593024) Subject: RE: First and third Wednesday at the Beech (UK) From: Phil Edwards The Tunes Session is on the last Tuesday, when there are four Tuesdays in the month and the last Tuesday is also the fourth Tuesday. When there are five Tuesdays in the month, however, the Tunes Session is on the last Tuesday and the fourth Tuesday. At least, that's what's happening this month. |
