Did they all go back to Wales for the big day? Anyway, in honour of Dewi Sant I sang the song about that place in Ynys Môn at the singing breakfast. |
01 Mar 09 - 08:03 PM (#2578910) Subject: RE: Dydd Gwyl Dewi: St David's Day in Wales From: Dame Pattie Smith EPNS Well I'm now shattered!!! I danced Gavottes, Andros, Plins, Bourez (can't spell that one), and lots of other Breton dances I can't even pronounce for 3 hours non-stop last night in the Cayo Arms, Cardiff. Spent all day today parading through Cardiff with my dance team and celebrating Dewi Sant and tonight playing with Calennig for a Twmpath (Welsh Barn Dance) at the University of Glamorgan. It even goes on tomorrow night at the Welsh College of Music and Drama Cardiff, another Twmpath....then I sleep! Gwyl Dewi Sant Hapus-Happy St Davids Day...collapse.......... |
02 Mar 09 - 02:46 AM (#2579038) Subject: RE: Dydd Gwyl Dewi: St David's Day in Wales From: Anne Lister I'm a case of the walking wounded as well ... not dancing, but singing and storytelling all weekend in various places. Rather upstaged yesterday in the leisure centre by a very personable dragon, but made up for it at the Dinas Powys club in the evening. Sore fingers now, but it was all very good fun! Anne |

Olly and I were stuck in a traffic jam, viewing the parade from afar - the first and only time when a march was early! We saw the lovely and very talented Bethan Nia Stacey Blythe in the foyer in the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay (standing room only - the foyer was full to bursting.) A vast number of dancers and musicians from all walks of life celebrated St David's Day in the Senedd. On the Saturday, Dr Price's Fire Band joined the Gwerinwyr Gwent dance team in a Welsh learners' St David's Day twmpath at Abergavenny - and Welshwoman Anne Lister, accompanied by husband Steve, rounded us all off nicely at Dinas Powis Folk Club - cowin' lush! I repeat: Now is the time for Wales to declare that Dydd Gwyl Dewi should be a national holiday. We are ready... |
02 Mar 09 - 07:42 AM (#2579175) Subject: RE: Dydd Gwyl Dewi: St David's Day in Wales From: Anne Lister I'm with you, Mick! Gone are the days when we had a half day holiday from school on the day of our St David's Day Eisteddfod ...more's the pity! But judging by the people I saw around and about on Saturday and Sunday there's a real swing towards having fun and doing stuff for Dewi Sant, so let's push for it. Anne |
