09 Mar 09 - 12:37 PM (#2584744) Subject: Ed Tricket House Concert West Chester PA From: Dan Schatz West Chester Folk is once again rolling with a house concert by Ed Trickett at the home of Dan Schatz and Geeta Shivde in West Chester, PA. The concert will be at 8 pm on Saturday, April 4, with a suggested donation of $15. We hope this will be the first of many house concerts at our home - we have a wonderful space in our new family room (though it is down a flight of stairs), and we hope to grow an audience for traditional music in Philadelphia's Western suburbs. We're hopeful that Ed will get us off to a strong start. Ed needs no introduction to most of us on the Mudcat, but we did find a wonderful quote from the All Music Guide: "Ed Trickett looks for the hidden truths in songs, and sings them to us in a manner that gives us a new meaning to old songs. The songs he has recorded alone, with Anne Mayo Muir and Gordon Bok, and with other artists are some of the most beautiful ever recorded." ~ Don Stevens The suggested donation is $15, and you can get more information - including contact numbers for directions - at the West Chester Folk website. This will be a rare opportunity for an intimate evening with one of the best folksingers out there! Dan |

09 Mar 09 - 01:04 PM (#2584774) Subject: RE: Ed Tricket House Concert West Chester PA From: SINSULL Ed does a wonderful House Concert. We had him here in Maine a while back, hammered dulcimer and all. Make sure he sings Clayton Boone - one of my favorites. Too far for me plus I will have the Shivers at my place the night before. Enjoy! |

12 Mar 09 - 08:17 AM (#2587083) Subject: RE: Ed Trickett House Concert West Chester PA From: matt milton I bought Ed's "The Telling Takes Me Home" album earlier this year and it's rapidly becoming one of my favourite folk albums. It also introduced me to Utah Phillips (there are two Utah covers on it.) Still can't listen to "Finger Ring" without an involuntary snigger though. Does he ever play outside the US? |
