28 Mar 09 - 06:05 AM (#2599098) Subject: FOX AND HOUNDS 2009 CANCELLED From: Cats Sorry it is in capitals but I didn't want anyone to miss it. The Fox and Hounds Weekend of Song which would have been held in May at Bridestowe on Dartmoor is cancelled this year. I am sure you know why. However, Frank, the landlord, has said that if anyone still wants to turn up at the pub for a spot of singing over the weekend you will all be very welcome as you always are. Just because it is not officially on there is no reason why people still can't go and sing. Thanks to everyone for the last 12 years. I don't know if Jon and Fred are going to carry on with it, that will be a decision for them and I am sure they will let you know. Kathy |
28 Mar 09 - 04:07 PM (#2599411) Subject: RE: FOX AND HOUNDS 2009 CANCELLED From: GUEST,Brian The F&H weekend may not be officially on, but we and other friends will be meeting there for the weekend as planned. Frank the landlord says we are welcome and can have the skittle alley for sings on Saturday, and Sunday lunchtime. No change there then! Anybody else who wishes to join us will be very welcome. If you had planned to come along, please still do. There might just be a birthday to celebrate too! |
28 Mar 09 - 04:46 PM (#2599442) Subject: RE: FOX AND HOUNDS 2009 CANCELLED From: Cats Please support, Brian and Jacqui. It will be an excellent weekend as usual |
28 Mar 09 - 05:28 PM (#2599462) Subject: RE: FOX AND HOUNDS 2009 NOT CANCELLED From: Polly Squeezebox This is an event that was just too good to end because the organisers' personal circumstances made it difficult. Some of us had already arranged to meet up with friends for an extended weekend so have taken on a 'fostering' role for this year. Yes, Brian, there is a birthday to celebrate too! We lost the sadly lamented Miskin Festival - let's not let this event go. The fact that it runs on the same weekend as the Ten Tors on Dartmoor would mean that if we don't use the venue this year we will lose it, because of it's wonderful proximity to the moor which rises directly up from the campsite behind the pub. For those of you reading Brian's post - sessions will not only take place at lunchtimes, the skittle alley is also reserved for us on Saturday night. There is a range of accommodation - campsite, bunkhouse or rooms in the Inn - arrange all directly with the Fox & Hounds (Tel: 01822 820206). The event this year will be free of charge (apart from accommodation paid directly to the pub), but a collection will be taken for charity. The group of friends who had arranged to meet would welcome anybody to join them to sing, play or listen. |

We're apparently entered in a Shanty competition called the 'Aaaargh Factor' - oh dear. Anyway, we're staying all week and will turn up at Bridestowe on the Friday. That was always the plan and we see no reason to change it. We'll see you all there. Andrew & Carole |

17 May 09 - 04:25 PM (#2634119) Subject: RE: Fox and Hounds Festival 2009 (it's on!)(Devon, UK) From: GUEST,Brian Thank You once again to everyone for making it such a superb weekend. The money raised over the weekend was presented to Dillon and his Mum on Wednesday. We would like to share this message from Dillon's parents with you; "We wanted to thank-you both and all your colleagues for thinking of Dillon and raising such a wonderful amount of money for his trust fund. £270.00 was just fantastic and will go a long way towards helping him in the future. He fills our life with so much happiness and on many occasions he humbles us with what he comes out with. I think we were blessed when we were chosen to be his parents and we feel so very proud of him. He has brought so many good people into our lives who have learnt about his condition and met him. Not only were you all kind enough to think of Dillon but generous enough to raise money for his future so from our hearts we say thank-you, thank-you, thank-you. With love and best wishes to you all, Dawn, Mark and Dillon." Photo |
