But only for Mudcat, not for Rod thieving Smith ... look a wee bit closer at the data base, and you'll find this: "This collection was derived from the Digital Tradition database at Mudcat Cafe and my thanks goes to them, and all those whose work contributed to making this collection possible. The Mudcat collection consists basically of two parts - songs with lyrics and music which are in our songs with midis and tablature pages and this second part which consists of lyrics only." Nothing is being hidden here, I don't think. |

If I were reproducing whole chunks of somebody else's website, common decency would dictate that I acknowledged the source of my borrowing on each page, not a single solitary acknowledgement tucked away in some backwater of the website. Neither the home page nor the "Main Menu" page nor the "About This Website" mention either Mudcat or the DT, so perhaps you could tell me where this prominent acknowledgement is not being hidden. I note that Mr Smith states on his site Website owners are granted a free licence to use midi files and graphics files from this site on their personal websites providing an acknowledgement of source is given (one for each item used) and a link to my home page is include on each page where one or more items is used. "Do as you would be done by" springs to mind. How about it, Mr Smith? |
