Don't ask ... We're back there this coming Monday 11th May, then every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 8.30. Chris |

10 May 09 - 07:11 PM (#2628593) Subject: RE: Deja vu: Bradford on Avon Session moving From: GUEST,Dave Come to the Swindon sessions, we have a rotating set of 4 pubs so if one has a hissy fit we only have to move a quarter of the sessions. Sessions Sessions are every Monday going from 1st at Purton, then Highworth, Old Town, Wroughton and Highworth again if there's a fifth Monday. Bradford isn't too far to come for a ceilidh, RanTan Band on at Wroughton on the 13th June... Rantan Everyone welcome, mixed music, mixed ability. |

There's also a regular Irish session with dancing, so I'm told. Fist session was most enjoyable, mind you they usually are. This September will be our 5th birthday, and we've started branching out. We provide background music for local events, i.e. 6 or 8 of us will turn up and play as if it were a normal session. We have a pleasant time and visitors to the event get some exposure to English music. It seems to be going down pretty well with the organisers too. Chris |

13 May 09 - 03:04 AM (#2630559) Subject: RE: Deja vu: Bradford on Avon Session moving From: ConcertinaChap Indeed. We have a certain talent for first nights ... Chris PS one other thing about our session is it's long on concertinas. Monday was typical with three English players, two anglo players and a MacCann duet player. So now you know. |

Do you not consider that publicising your session in my thread is just a little ill-mannered? It's not something I would have done in a thread of yours. Chris |

You'd be feeling grumpy if you'd just had your knee replaced. Still think your original post was ill-mannered and opportunistic, though. Would you really have welcomed it if I tried to encourage people to desert your session and come to ours? Would have PM'd you instead of going public, only you've chosen to post as a guest. Les: I'd like to know too. As a means of publicising the session and the music (because we're very keen on getting new people involved in the music) it's great and because we're running it like a mini session there's little rehearsal time and pressure. But the "audience" like the informality as well. Cheers, Chris |

I know most people who get regular gigs look down on it as playing whilst people eat Best of luck with it L in C |
